Abortion

I believe someone (I dont feel like going back over the posts) originally said that "everything is either living or dead". *Beeep*Wrong. I order for something to be dead, its needs to have died, correct? And in order for something to die, it needs to live lived as well. Has a rock lived? A couch? This very computer, has it lived? I think the answer would be no to all of these questions. I have no idea where this paragraph is going, but I hate it when people say stuff like that.

JM, are you against the deatn penalty? Yes, I'm assuming. What about DNRs? Oh wait, you dont know what that is, do you? A DNR order is a Do Not Recesitate order. Its basically a sheet of paper that says that the doctors at a hospital may "pull the plug" on the signers realtive, freind, ect. that is in the hospital. These are usually used when the patient is in massive amounts of pain, or will never be able to do a certain activity (walking, eating, ect.) normally again. Now tell me.

Say a close relative, your step-sister, was dying slowly. She was in excruciating pain. Imagine what 3rd degree burns all over your body would feel like. That much pain. Hurts, doesnt it? Now, the doctor recomends that you sign the DNR order. Would you? Or, just because its aginst your supposed "moral values" would you make her live on through the pain?

Now, your answer?

If your wondering about the connections to abortion, then listen to this. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that you would sign it. You just broke your own theory.

But in case you argue that your sister is in a lot of pain, and the baby isnt, then let me say this.

What would you do if youwere in that position. If you, at the age of 15 (I'm upping your age a little, I know) were pregnant. Your parents would probably kick you out if they found out. Even if they didnt, you would always be known as the **** in school. Your freind would abandon you, and dont say they wouldnt, cause trust me, I wouldnt hang around a freind that just got pregnant. Call me sick, call me not a real freind, call me a bastard son of a *****, feel free. But that is against my own code of ethics. Non-safe sex before marriage just aint my thing.

But getting back to the point. Would you keep the baby in that situation? Well?

The post in question illustrates that while a fetus is living, it is not a life.

Nope, you don't have to have lived to be dead. A rock is dead, a couch is dead, anything that is not alive is dead. It is most commonly used as a term to describe organisms that have died, but another definition for dead is inanimate or inert.

Oh ok. Well that is a contradiction. The definition of life is:

Noun
Inflected forms: pl.lives 1. a. The property or quality that distinguishes living organisms from dead organisms and inanimate matter, manifested in functions such as metabolism, growth, reproduction, and response to stimuli or adaptation to the environment originating from within the organism. b. The characteristic state or condition of a living organism. 2. Living organisms considered as a group: plant life; marine life. 3. A living being, especially a person: an earthquake that claimed hundreds of lives. 4. The physical, mental, and spiritual experiences that constitute existence: the artistic life of a writer. 5. a. The interval of time between birth and death: She led a good, long life. b. The interval of time between one's birth and the present: has had hay fever all his life. c. A particular segment of one's life: my adolescent life. d. The period from an occurrence until death: elected for life; paralyzed for life. e. Slang A sentence of imprisonment lasting till death. 6. The time for which something exists or functions: the useful life of a car. 7. A spiritual state regarded as a transcending of corporeal death. 8. An account of a person's life; a biography. 9. Human existence, relationships, or activity in general: real life; everyday life. 10. a. A manner of living: led a hard life. b. A specific, characteristic manner of existence. Used of inanimate objects: "Great institutions seem to have a life of their own, independent of those who run them" (New Republic). c. The activities and interests of a particular area or realm: musical life in New York. 11. a. A source of vitality; an animating force: She's the life of the show. b. Liveliness or vitality; animation: a face that is full of life. 12. a. Something that actually exists regarded as a subject for an artist: painted from life. b. Actual environment or reality; nature.

The definition is a little lengthy, pretty much only the first few definitions are relevant to this discussion.

...Meh, I have been beaten there. Good show!

But another thing I felt I had to say. An organism, by definition, is living...No need to reilliterateones self by saying "living organism".

Well when organisms die they are dead organisms. Plus it just sounds better than "living things" I think.

ok JM, give it a rest. Murder and Abortion are NOT the same thing you can't just change the meaning in every dictionary because thats what YOU think! everything you are saying has no facts, you cant have a debate and get people to agree with you with no proof of anything you are saying. its not the same thing, face it your wrong! i dont know why u cant get that through your head.

Murder:
To put an end to life (another human), unlawfully.

Abortion:
performing an legal abortion, expulsion of an embryo or fetus before it is viable.

Viable🙁incase you are to young to know what that means)

Capable of living (in this case, outside the uterus.)

Abortion is not against the law therefore it is not murder. And its a fetus or embryo....not a baby! so stop making it sound like everyone here is baby killers.

Does anyone know the gingerbread man song? With sound effects... 😱

^ that sad face wasn't supposed to be there i ment.......
Viable : (incase..

Whoever created abortion should be shat on

Whoever created abortion should be shat on

Abortion was created WAY back when, so maybe you should go take a crap on Caesar or something 🙂.

I argee with that!JM^

Induced abortion has been around since the ancient Egyptians.

Actually... a fetus is a baby. An embryo under 8 weeks isn't, but that isn't a fetus yet either. Just thought I should correct you because that's a common misconception.

ah whatever the point is its not murder

Cellular life is indicative of a living thing but it does not follow from this that this thing is also a life.

For example, cellular life is present in a tree but one would hardly argue that because a tree is alive that it is a life.

The point is that while a fetus is a living thing, it has no brainwave activity before the tenth week and therefore, no sentience.

that's a very true statement.... abortionsn are legal therefore it cann't be murder because it's only an embyro WITHIN 8 weeks but none the less it's still not murder even if used later....

You would dump your friend just because they got pregnant outside of marriage? Wow talk about being a good, supportive friend.

No I would not.My mom got pregnant outside of marriage.and I don't go around talking to her about it.
Also my stepsister too.I would never stop talking to a friend just because of that. That would not be making me a good friend now would it?JM

What are you referring to when you use the word life? A tree is life.. life doesn't mean that the being is intelligent or self aware, life is the characteristic that distinguishes living organisms from things that are dead. You can't be a living organism but not be a life. The main characteristics of life are: growth & development, reproduction, made up of cells, and homeostasis. Everything from microscopic bacteria to blue whales fit the criteria of life. Which is why when you study Biology(study of life), you study life all over the planet in every shape and form not just life in sentient beings.

Sentience is what distinguishes human life from all other forms of life. This is why the unjustified killing of a born person is murder and the unjustified killing of a seedling is not.

Oh ok.. that's more understandable. That doesn't change the fact that a fetus is life. But it does make the life of a fetus less valuable.. as screwed up as that might sound.
