Right-Wing Terrorist Bombs IVF Clinic
One person was killed, and at least four other people were injured, after a vehicle exploded outside of a fertility clinic in Palm Springs, California, on Saturday morning, in what the FBI called an "intentional act of terrorism." The blast shattered windows and rained debris for blocks.
"Make no mistake, this is an intentional act of terrorism," Akil Davis, assistant director in charge of the FBI's Los Angeles Field Office, told reporters during a news conference Saturday evening. He said investigators believe the clinic was targeted.
The explosion in the 1300 block of Indian Canyon Drive in Palm Springs occurred at about 11:00 a.m. local time, rocking nearby buildings and leading to a fire and the collapse of a building, according to authorities. The debris field covered over 250 yards.
The clinic provided in vitro fertilization, egg freezing, surrogacy, LGBTQ family building, and other services to the Coachella valley. It is across the street from the Desert Regional Medical Center.
The clinic's doctor, Maher Abdallah, reported that all his employees were safe. No patients were inside the facility at the time of explosion, he said. "Our IVF lab is intact. Embryos were not affected in any way."
An internal briefing circulated Saturday afternoon by senior officials within the Los Angeles Police Department noted that the FBI had confirmed the suspect was the sole fatality. That briefing also said police had found two rifles—an AK-47 and an AR-platform rifle—along with ammunition next to the exploded vehicle.
As the day progressed, the investigation moved 50 miles northeast to Twentynine Palms, where local residents reported law enforcement had cordoned off a section of desert tract homes, some wielding axes, in what appeared to be a search for explosives.
A police briefing identified the suspect as a 25-year-old man from Twentynine Palms. The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department confirmed it was assisting the FBI in its investigation in Twentynine Palms.
The bomber, Guy Edward Bartkus, left an online manifesto in which he described himself as a pro-mortalist, saying people did not give consent to exist. He left a 30-minute audio recording in which he explained his motive for the attack.
"I figured I would just make a recording explaining why I've decided to bomb an IVF building, or clinic," he said at the beginning of the recording. "Basically, it just comes down to—I'm angry that I exist, and that, you know, nobody got my consent to bring me here."
Describing himself as anti-life, he adds, "I'm very against IVF, it's extremely wrong. These are people who are having kids after they've sat there and thought about it. How much more stupid can it get?"

MN Shooter is Far-Right Evangelical Pastor, Had Hit List of Democrats
Two Democratic lawmakers and their spouses were shot in a targeted incident on Saturday.
State Senator John Hoffman of Champlin and his wife have been hospitalized, and State Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband have died.
The two shootings took place early Saturday morning at the respective homes of the victims, who live approximately eight miles away from each other.
The perpetrator, Vance Luther Boelter, posed as a police officer during the shootings.
Law enforcement found a manifesto and hit list in this car, which included Democratic politicians, abortion providers, and Pro-Choice advocates.
The 57-year-old runs an armed security service with his wife, and has been affiliated with at least one Evangelical organization, a ministry he has also run with his wife, according to tax filings.
He also served as the president of Revoformation Ministries. A version of the ministry's website captured in 2011 carries a biography in which he is said to have been ordained in 1993.
According to his social media, Boelter is a Trump supporter, donated to the Christian nationalist organization Alliance Defending Freedom, and gave anti-transgender sermons as a part of his ministry.
His self-described best friend and part-time roommate, David Carlson, said that Boelter was feeling down and unhappy with his work situation. He had built a scattered career that included food companies, retailing, and pastoring, according to public records and his online posts.
He has been living with his wife in a rural area outside the Twin Cities, and staying a few nights a week at a rental home in a working-class Minneapolis neighborhood with a couple of roommates. Boelter was working overnight shifts, while trying to get a security company off the ground.
Carlson woke Saturday to a troubling text: Boelter said he was "going to be gone for a while" and "may be dead shortly," which prompted him to call the police.
Boelter remains at large.

Dude probably got DOGE'd, so clearly he's targeting the wrong people.
Christian Evangelical MAGA terrorist. Somehow it fits like a glove.
I mean, posing as a police officer with clearly some serious planning and murdering honest public servants. F#cker should fu#king rot.
Yet apparently MTG immediately posted a picture of herself posing with some sort of sniper rifle or something. She, also should rot.

I guess there's probably not as big of an effort to catch this guy as there was to catch Luigi Mangione? The "New" FBI don't give a shit about some Democratic politicians. Scumbag health insurance CEO, though? That's a big deal.
After exchanging gunfire with Boelter early Saturday, police in Brooklyn Park searched his abandoned vehicle and found a chilling trove of weaponry, including at least three AK-47 assault rifles and a 9mm handgun, along with a list with dozens of names and addresses of other public officials.
On Sunday, authorities found Boelter's vehicle abandoned in rural Sibley County where he lived, and a police officer reported that he saw Boelter running into the woods. Police set up a large perimeter, and called in 20 different tactical teams, divvying up the area and searching for him.
During the search, police received information confirming someone was in the woods and searched for hours, using a helicopter and officers on foot, until they found Boelter. He surrendered to police, crawling out to officers in the woods, before he was handcuffed and taken into custody in a field.
Jail records show Boelter was booked into the Hennepin County Jail at 1:02 a.m.

Among the details about the shooter beginning to emerge is that he attended a bible college that is a stronghold of the New Apostolic Reformation, the charismatic movement that teaches that Christians are called to take over the U.S. government. Founded in 1970, Christ for the Nations Institute, located in Dallas, Texas boasts having graduated more than 40,000 students.
One notable alumnus of Christ for the Nations is Dutch Sheets, a South Carolina-based preacher and YouTuber who was instrumental in spreading the narrative that the 2020 election had been stolen from Trump.
Another Stop the Steal leader, Cindy Jacobs, was honored by Christ for the Nations earlier this year. Jacobs, a faith adviser to Donald Trump, participated in the Jericho March of December 2020, when election protesters marched around the U.S. Capitol, Supreme Court, and Department of Justice seven times.

Vance Boelter voted in the March 2024 Minnesota Republican presidential primary, belying online disinformation that has sought to paint Boelter as a leftist with ties to Democratic Governor Tim Walz.
Boelter's voter profile in the GOP Data Center, a national database with voter registration information used to target voters, confirms Boelter's support for Donald Trump.
Disinformation has circulated online since authorities released Boelter's name, attempting to cast him as a disgruntled leftist and agent of Walz even as Boelter's roommate and longtime friend told reporters that he was a Trump supporter in 2024.
