EU meddles in Italian elections
How darw Ursula. If Italian voters choose far right wing, that is their business. Fair and free elections are to be respected.

Uh-huh.
Uh-huh yeah.
Russia meddled in American elections. They were rightly called on it because it violated a principal: state sovereignty.
To threaten Italy with sanctions because they may elect far right officials is absolutely meddling. Either sovereign elections are to be respected, or they aren't.
The moment you say "Respect elections, except if the far right is elected", is the moment you drop taking a principled stance.

You mean the Jan. 6 riot that is currently being investigated and has resulted in many prosecutions, with more to come? The internal matter that was handled internally?
The thing that is not remotely related to the other thing?

Showing once more that you don't know anything about them pesky foreigners. The EU can't sanction Italy.
Props for being deliberately obtuse though. 👍Andy Dufresne would disapprove though.

"If things go in a difficult direction, I've spoken about Hungary and Poland, we have tools," she added.
The specifics don't really matter, so much as the threat.
If not sanctions, then what "tools"? And why would the "wrong party" justify said tools?
How does it look to the voting public if such a prominent individual makes these threats? "Vote for the appropriate party or else there will be consequences".

Her tools are "she spoke to". Did Poland and Hungary give one single f**k about what she had to say? They did not. Italy doesn't have to either. Specifically it's about what she thinks Italy's policy on immigration is going to be now that Meloni has been voted in. Which will be similar, presumably, to Poland and Hungary in that what is classed as "third country immigration" (non EU) will be almost nothing.
