A bill that would have prohibited minors from getting married in West Virginia was defeated Wednesday night in a legislative committee. The Republican-dominated Senate Judiciary Committee rejected the bill on a 9–8 vote, a week after it passed the House of Delegates.

The bill's opponents have argued that teenage marriages are a part of life in West Virginia.

Kanawha County Republican Senator Mike Stuart, a former federal prosecutor who sided with the majority, said his vote "wasn't a vote against women." He said his mother was married when she was 16, and "six months later, I came along. I'm the luckiest guy in the world."

During debate Tuesday on a bill banning gender-affirming care for transgender minors, Republican State Senator Mike Moon suggested children as young as 12 should have the right to marry.

"Do you know any kids who have been married at age 12? I do. And guess what? They're still married," Moon said in response to questioning by Democratic state Representative Peter Meredith.

In debate on the bill, Representative Meredith cited Moon's stance on child marriage as inconsistent with his aim of protecting children through his bill banning transgender care for minors.

Last night, Yiannopoulos posted allegations from a "groyper" who claims that Alexander solicited sexually explicit images from him when he was 15 years old.

Yiannopoulos claims he repeatedly warned Nick Fuentes about Alexander, and that Fuentes took no action to distance himself from him or to protect America First members from his advances.

Fuentes addressed the allegations on his show last night, saying they are "gross," and that Alexander needs to provide an explanation, but insisted that as a political figure, he sometimes has to work with unsavory people. He then compared himself to Jesus.

This is rich from Yiannopoulos, considering he was fired from Breitbart for suggesting that it was acceptable for children to have sex with adults. So while what Alexander did is inexcusable for any normal person, I doubt Milo truly has a problem with it.

In short, a Rightwing pedo-apologist has turn on a a Rigthwing pedophile. It's always great when the Right eats each other.

Milo Yiannopoulos is a Rightist deplorable piece of shit, but he did a good thing here. So I applaud him for that action and that action only.

Nick Fuentes is another Rightwing deplorable, so it's no wonder he didn't take any real action after being warned over and over.

Guilty on all five counts was the verdict Friday in the federal sex-trafficking trial of the Reverend Michael Jude Zacharias, a Roman Catholic priest who has led parishes in Mansfield and Fremont. The jury's decision was announced a little before 5:00 p.m. Friday. Zacharias, 56, was found guilty of all five counts of sex trafficking, two of which involved victims who were minors. The allegations spanned 15 years, from July 2005 to August 2020.

Zacharias had taken the witness stand on Wednesday, and admitted to having had sexual relations with several men, but maintained that the sex never involved anyone younger than 18. A nine-page affidavit that had been filed in federal court accused Zacharias of "grooming" victims to use their drug addiction as a way to perform sexual acts on them. Zacharias testified that he never knew the men had drug problems or that the money he gave them would be used to buy illegal drugs.

The first victim was abused as a Catholic school student in Toledo, while Zacharias was in seminary school. Zacharias paid the victim so Zacharias could perform oral sex on him, including once when the victim was paid $1,500 for allowing Zacharias to perform oral sex on him at the rectory of a parish. The abuse continued through adulthood, and through Zacharias moving to Van Wert, Fremont, and Findlay.

Zacharias made numerous videos of the victim: some depicting sex acts, and others called "confession videos," where Zacharias, dressed in his priest attire, confessed to grooming and performing oral sex on the victim. Those videos have been viewed by FBI agents, according to the complaint.

A second victim named in the complaint also told the FBI that he had met Zacharias while a grade school student at a Catholic school in Toledo, with the abuse beginning during the victim's ninth-grade year.

A Utah man arrested last year in Idaho with members of a white nationalist group has admitted to possessing child pornography. Jared M. Boyce, 28, of Springville pleaded guilty in a Utah court last month to nine felony counts of sexual exploitation of a minor. He faces up to 30 years in prison when he is sentenced Tuesday in Provo.

Boyce was among 31 members of the group Patriot Front arrested last year for menacing an LGBT pride event in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. The child pornography case appears to be an outgrowth of that arrest. Court records say the FBI searched Boyce's phone a month after the Idaho arrests and found images depicting children in sex acts.

A minister and Christian school teacher in Ventura County has been charged with multiple felony counts of child abuse, including accusations that he tried to meet up with a 15-year-old girl for sex.

Barry Fike, 67, of Fillmore was arrested on Monday following an investigation by the Ventura County Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force. Fike, a minister at Fillmore Church of Christ, pleaded not guilty to all charges during his arraignment Wednesday.

"The conversations were sexual in nature and Fike shared explicit photos of himself with the victim, who was actually an undercover officer," the Ventura County District Attorney's Office said in a news release.

Fike is being held in custody with bail set at $150,000, according to the Ventura County District Attorney's Office. The Fillmore resident previously taught at Oaks Christian High School in Westlake Village for nearly 11 years.

Fike also taught at Pepperdine University but "is not currently an instructor at the university," according to the Ventura County District Attorney's Office. Pepperdine University spokesperson Michael Friel confirmed that Fike last taught at the school in December 2021.

In an ironic twist, Fike shared a social media post by Charlie Kirk, suggesting that the "liberal media" is "attacking" the film Sound of Freedom, because it purports to expose child sex trafficking.
