Thinking of finally getting into Star Trek Online, only reason I haven't is because I only play free and hate long tedious grinds. It's why I stopped playing Genshin Impact.
But I keep hearing how good the story content is and how actual Trek actors are there, and how you don't really need money, seems like it would be fun.

I was thinking of rebranding myself too. "PUddlegulp", to compliment my "TheFrogOfThunder" on Reddit (Was surprised no one else had done it, frog Thor is best Thor)
But nah, what's the point? All it takes is a quick check to find aliases, and my posting style is kind of unique. I mean Broly or someone tried impersonating me with a "CDTM1" sig and people weren't really buying it.
^ If you're tired of your KMC username, you can request to change it. But I think the mods in charge of approving those requests have been AFK for awhile.
Methinks simply switching usernames on the same KMC account is a far cry from outright perma-banning your own KMC account to create a new separate one.

I'm aiming for Romulan Tactical, because I was told my Science officer won't be as good, so made a second character. Also did an alien this time for the bonus trait, though it bums me out that you're nerfing yourself by playing a racial Romulan, wonder why they did that?
Of course there's Reddit, but you get contradictions from them, one guy will tell you to go with Romulan aliens for the fourth trait, another will tell you it doesn't matter because racial Romulans get the Operative trait and the fourth trait plus comparable skills only evens it out and nobody usually is ready for min-maxxing at that level, yet another guy will say Science Officer rules where everyone else says all tactical all the time.
I'm just a lazy free to play player who doesn't intend to make any purchases and doesn't care about min maxing, and only wants the easiest path to smoking end game content (Seriously everyone talks about leaderboarding on DPS where every last sub optimal build is supposed to be capable of beating all the content at all difficulties, what even is the point of such overkill?)
This is why I hate looking up builds online, you always go down a rabbit hole that just sucks the enjoyment out of it.
