Maybe you never noticed the crosses displayed in Misery, or the Catholic Priest burning to death in Lawnmower Man, among many examples over the years and concluded Christians are deliberately targeted by groups with axes to grind.
Maybe you never noticed the fallible, yet heroic priests in what is regarded as the greatest horror film of all time in The Exorcist. Or the indomitable moral will of the Jesuits in The Mission. Or the timeless Old Testament Christian-themed themes in classic movies like Ben Hur, Barrabas, and The Ten Commandments. Or the retelling/extolling of Joan of Arc across films. Or the personal struggles of redemptive faith of soldiers of God in modern large epics like Kingdom of Heaven -- the director's cut at least, theatrical version sucked... director's cut tho: top 10 film.

I'm not trying to do a reverse poison the well scenario here. But I attended Jesuit universities. So I'm not inexperienced with Catholic institutions. Your behavior and diatribe be emblematic of dat one goblin in the back of the classroom that everybody wishes would just stfu but is allowed an inordinate amount of attention because we oughtta honor all viewpoints constructively. But really, all that's being done is humoring the schmuck who's more likely to go tattletaling to the dean about unfair discrimination.

I'd be very happy if you were this critical of claims of systemic bias, asking for proof every step of the way. Most just accept something is true if activists get parroted enough times.
Do I strike you as somebody who has the tendency to take it easy on posters I disagree with solely because of I'm worried about their gender identity or sexual orientation? Go ask nvrbeenwthagirl if I ever gave them a pass during our debates. /laff

Fair enough then, no offense intended. I tend to get a little bit raw about the state of partisanism..

I'd like to ask a tangentially related but different topic. The Satanic Temple was banned from a school and a judge ruled their freedom of expression was infringed.

Two points on this;

1. The founders of the temple outright claimed they founded it specifically as something George W. Bush would hate, but that fell in line with existing policy and thus must exist. This means they intended to push the buttons on Christians, how is that not the definition of "hate"?

2. If free speech is so absolute, should one be allowed to found "Hitlers club for people in ovens" or some stupid thing?

I have a feeling the answer to 2 is a solid "No". I also have a feeling ANY church that so clearly insulted ANY other religion or ethnicity would not pass muster.

And suddenly I remember the Westboro Baptist Church is a thing.

Well ****, I just killed my own argument....

You either drinking the Fox/OANN kool-aid or the CNN/MSNBC kool-aid... or both... thinking that the average American is as viciously partisan as mainstream American media pretends they are.

Partisan "news" coverage was a natural result of these media corporations making unprecedented advertisement profits when they sensationalized Trump's campaign. Don Lemon oughtta be privately worshipping at the feet of a Trump golden idol for his huge contracts even as he stands jobless now. And Tucker Carlson oughtta be wiping his a$$ w/ Trump-pictured toilet paper for forcing his show into an irredeemable corner as he stands jobless now.

The "extreme left" or "extreme right" of America could demonize those two respectively but let's face it... neither of them were as morally pure or personally corrupt as the competing news media portrayed them to be. They did their jobs. They made money for their bosses. And making Americans mad at each other makes media corporations money.

You feel how you feel. But this is the internet. Don't expect to enjoy moments of vindication on public forums. You will be sh1t on mercilessly even where you think you've found that particular echochamber of a forum. The internet, taken as a whole, is ironically fair and equitable in that respect:

I just imagined actual professors with PHD's would be above it all, you know?

I dunno WHY, having been to college and working odd jobs in places like Yale. Was actually one of the earliest shocks of my life when a woman manager chewed out an intern over another manager offering him a pizza slice from a private function he wasn't invited to but just happened to need to share the same room with those people.

Like, yeah, people are people, but where is the modern day Socrates? How could we EVER have had an idea about philosopher kings if we have no philosopher kings.

John-Luc Picard just seems like the least believable part of TNG because no one on earth is as mature as that character acted.

One of the richest men in the world spends more time personally trolling the internet more than the both of us combined. Let's not pretend that prestige buys class.

You should be reminded that Socrates was so highly controversial during his life that he was convicted of corrupting the youth, jailed for it and basically forced to commit suicide.

The philosopher king was a concept. Socrates never pretended to be so. And anybody who has pretended to be so subsequently has fallen short of such ideals. Ain't no political messiah answering prayers anytime soon, bruh.

Beady-eyed viewers were quick to say two unidentified figures could be seen climbing on the domed roof when the drone detonated.

Shouldn't that be Eagle eyed? 😆

Beady eyes is an insult!

beady eyed has two meanings, now swivel eyed, that would be an insult.

Didn't know that, always figured it as a negative description. 🙂

Speaking of learning new things;

most dogs prefer being touched with long gentle strokes along the chest, shoulder and base of the tail.

Funny, I normally do most of this to with Callie. Guess I'm a natural with canines.

Pro-tip, never touch an unknown dog on the snout or nose. They view it as a threat unless from a trusted person (I only do it to rile her up into rough play)

Speaking of Nintendo games, ran into one of the worst quirks of RPG's; the disjointed quest trigger.

There's two temples you need to do a thing to unlock. I stumbled across how to do one, and decided to go find the other first because I like tackling hard problems before easy/solved ones. Could not find out how to open up that second temple, so resorted to a guide peek (Which I try not to do,, but my patience is limited).

Turns out you CAN'T do one until you finish the other first in a specific order.

The game does not demand a specific order. That's just how the triggers work, first 1 then 2.

This is why "guideless" play throughs aren't for me, it's no fun guessing on quirks like this.

Same deal if you enter a room, talk to someone, and you must leave the room and re-enter for the next part of the quest. Unintuitive nonsense.

So what do you figure the purpose here is?

https://www.latimes.com/environment/newsletter/2023-03-09/white-drivers-are-polluting-the-air-breathed-by-l-a-s-people-of-color-boiling-point

Headline is obviously racially charged. Wondering if that's clickbait, but I care more about what environmentalists think is gonna actually change here. People aren't going to give up their cars if they can afford not to use public transit.

And can't this same argument be made about flyover states? Affluent people just flying over poorer areas, just like they drive through poorer areas. How much pollution do jets create?

AI!! Don't they use computers? Don't computers use electricity? Don't they create pollution?

Isn't AI tech at odds with GREEN?

Why is the CW hosting in Indy car show? Have they lost their minds and decided to try courting white trash conservatives after the entire strategy of appealing to snowflakes?

Speaking of philosophy, it's kind of funny how popular media portrays it as the inane ramblings of a KMC poster.

Yet it's actually about a lot of math. A LOT of math.
