Happy 25th Birthday, Lebowski

‘The Big Lebowski’ Turns 25: “People Didn’t Get It,” Jeff Bridges Recalls

The Dude looks back — and shares his behind-the-scenes photos — from the Coen brothers’ beloved take on L.A. noir. The film has inspired legions of fans, an annual festival and even a religion, but it wasn’t an instant hit in 1998.

Saw it in the theaters in 1998, wasn't sure what I was getting into, but I loved it and it's still my favorite film.

It's one of mine, a truly great movie, started my love for cardigans.

Best friend got me The Dudes exact cardigan as a birthday gift last year.

It's a movie you have to return to every so often. And it's fantastic.

That's just, like, your opinion, man. For anyone reading this, that's a Lebowski quote not an insult. 🙂

Like, that opinion is basically a fact, man.

Rob, are you a member of the Church of the Latter-Day Dude?

I.AM.NOW!

"Come join the slowest-growing religion in the world – Dudeism. An ancient philosophy that preaches non-preachiness, practices as little as possible, and above all, uh…lost my train of thought there. Anyway, if you’d like to find peace on earth and goodwill, man, we’ll help you get started. Right after a little nap."

Lmao.

I need a rug to really tie the room together. I wonder if they have one in the merch store...

Can I use this as a religious exemption to get out of work?

Like, it's against my religion, man.

Younger Cop : And was there anything of value in the car?

The Dude : Oh, uh, yeah, uh... a tape deck, some Creedence tapes, and there was a, uh... uh, my briefcase.

Younger Cop : [expectant pause] In the briefcase?

The Dude : Uh, uh, papers, um, just papers, uh, you know, uh, my papers, business papers.

Younger Cop : And what do you do, sir?

The Dude : I'm unemployed.

Have never seen this movie but I plan to sometime this summer. Especially since its the same age as I am lol

I have officially converted to Dudeism. Just ordered this. I look forward to revisiting it and seeing some of the supplemental material. It's been 3 or 4 years or so since I saw the movie...

I actually think some bigger special edition just came out, but I didn't want to spend that much money and I like the 20th Anniversary Cover better...

It was okay
