Any chance the UK just gives it back?

Also, would that fix the issues?

No. The loyalists would just do what the irish republicans are doing now.

They are all backwards, batshit idiots. My brother is married to a protestant from Norn Iron and despite the fact that she has a prestigious job with a high 6 figure salary when she has a drink on her she starts with the "fenians" this and "taigs" that. She's had several older family members killed and maimed in IRA bombings. It never ends. It's as intransigent as Israel Palestine.

Well god damn, did not know.

The loyalists literally rioted over the times a flag was to be flown over public buildings.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belfast_City_Hall_flag_protests

Religion is nutty.

I remember back in the 80s, NI and the NRA/violence was on the news here quite a bit, But it largely stopped (aside from the larger attacks) by the early-mid 90s.

There are barricades separating Catholic and Protestant areas in Belfast.

There's enormous bonfires every year on 11th July the day prior to the Orange marches

Which themselves usually turn into riots as Protestant marches attempt to go through Catholic areas to commemorate the Battle of the Boyne in 1690 when the Protestant king William of Orange defeated the Catholic King James

.

You we're lying when you made the Israel/Palestine comparison.

The guy flying through the air after being water blasted, Irish Nationalist?

Nah. Red hand of Ulster flag = british loyalist

The UK troops stationed in NI, are they from the UK, or Irish Loyalist or a combo?

British. Them and the police were the big targets for Irish republicans.

Irish = republicans = Sinn Fein, Tricolour flag, IRA support, anti-british, Catholic

British = loyalists (loyalty to the crown), Union Jack and Red hand of Ulster flag. Orange marchers, pro-monarchy. Ulster volunteer force (UVF) Democratic unionist party, Protestant

So no loyalist are Irish?

No. Loyalists consider themselves British, not Irish.

But they're Irish, yeah?

Don't say that in front of them. Violence will ensue.

That's some serious triggery

The Ulster Unionists are not unlike Trumpers except, they are much more violent when triggered. The old adage in British and Irish politics used to be never get in bed with them, because they are simply that ****ing mad! Then Cameron did... and treated them like a girlfriend you were just using for a ****... what could go wrong?

I mean, most Trumpers I know are just opinionated Boomers who know better then to talk in front of the even more opinionated wives of close friends who have no political opinion at all and let their wives do all the talking.

No violence there.
