Whats your take on Disneys Star Wars reckon they stuffed it up ?
Whats your take on Disneys Star Wars reckon they and kennedy stuffed it up and should have stuck to Lucases original plans for the Star Wars series/trilogy ie making Leila the chosen one and Maul as the new Sith leader for another 3 movies etc.
I like a lot of what Canon Star Wars has done. And frankly, Lucas' original ideas for VII-IX were awful. There was already over a decade of "fans" bashing Lucas non-stop over the Prequels and his retcons in TCW. He was clearly very sick of being in charge of the franchise with how toxic the fanbase had become.
Meanwhile, Disney has given us a lot of great additions to the Star Wars universe. Rogue One, Solo (I don't care what anyone says, I love that movie), The Mandalorian, Rebels, the Marvel comics, Dooku: Jedi Lost, Master and Apprentice, Brotherhood, all of The High Republic Phase I, Jedi: Fallen Order, Squadrons. Star Wars is arguably in a better place now than it's ever been. Under Lucas, Star Wars had been stagnating and the fanbase was largely negative. I'm glad Disney bought it from him and reinvigorated the franchise.
Cool yeah I think it would have been nice they should have made Lucases other trilogies ie with Maul and liela and Luke etc with leila being the chosen one and then after that Disney should have continued with their other sequels making it after the original trilogies as stated above ie with Rogue etc… that would have been so awesome. A lot of Star Wars fans wish they did that . A lot of Maul fans would have liked that and sort of feel deprived and ripped of by that .. funny even up til now they still want it back they are doing this online vote thing thru change.org etc
It's shit. Absolute shit.
Obviously the big issue is the sequels. Not only are they bad movies, but they've ruined the heroes of the OT. Honestly, this was such a major **** up I can't see any potential recovery for this...
The shows are hit or miss. And TBH, they are mostly miss. Andor was great and seasons 1 and 2 of Mandalorian were good. The rest were all pretty terrible.
The comics were the high point. I haven't read any of the stuff from the past few years, but at least most of the comics from early on were surprisingly good.
Books were very poor. I read several of the books and the only ones I thought were good were Thrawn and the Rebels tie-in. Everything else I've read was mediocre at best.
The games are fine though there are very few.

The fanbase is still largely negative. And I'd argue that it's stagnating more than it was at the end of Lucas's tenure. The EU, for all of it's issues, would often do very unique and fresh storylines.
The EU had also several huge issues with continuity, like Palpatine being back stronger than ever only a few years after his death, thus invalidating Anakin's sacrifice, or Vader tier villains popping up out of nowhere every 2 years (Unuthuul, Jerec, Joruus, Krayt, Lumiya, Nyax etc), like do you remember when someone like Fisto or Plo were considered to be one of the strongest force users ever? Not to mention that there were literally hundreds of Jedi alive post Order 66 and if they regrouped together instead of going depressed they could have defeated the Empire like 3 months after it was proclaimed.
The EU had become a mess and I'm sure that if a lot of its original stories were published today they'd get shitted on as well.
Canon has the merit of cleaning up that mess and keeping it more rational, at least for now. For instance the Inquisitors not being super strong like they were in Legends is a much better choice, because they're all supposed to be your average Jedi. It doesn't make sense for any of them to be Vader tier or close to Vader like Jerec, because then what the **** were such powerful Jedi doing during the clone wars?
One thing canon should start doing is focusing on other Jedi during the prequel era. Even the likes of Windu and Yoda haven't been that fleshed out in canon, it always looks like it's Kenobi + Anakin + Ahsoka against the galaxy while the rest is just cheering up for them on the bleaches
The EU had its problems, certainly. I've bitched enough about the EU for a lifetime and was fine with Disney wiping it away. And I wasn't alone. Plenty of others bitched as well, DE being perhaps the most reviled of all.
The issue is, Disney made many of the same mistakes but even worse. RoS is essentially DE but significantly worse. Plus it was a movie so it can't be as easily ignored as DE was.
The biggest problem I've had with current canon [especially in the last year or two] is how hard they've tried to appease woke culture -- something that Disney has been doing across all of its umbrella media. It just... Doesn't work, and comes off as laughably forced.
That said, I've liked quite a bit of canon material(primarily on the comic/novel/TV side of things), but a lot of it has also been utter garbage.
Yeah, I'm with Galan(though I've really only enjoyed mainly the first 2 Vader series). Ontop of that, I feel they kinda....ruined part of the narrative by making the Galactic Empire into...a bunch of morons, to where I'm questioning how they even maintained control for 20 years.
Like why should I see the Empire as this threat, when the only actual competent people are maybe...like a handful at best and these people only being either movie or fan favorites.
The fact they took the stupid jokes about Stormtroopers missing or being unable to see through their helmets, seriously is just....appalling to me.
The First Order amounted to....nothing, The Final Order amounted to even less than nothing and both were swiftly defeated at the conclusion of RoS. I can't even call the Final Order a faction honestly, it came up so quick and was destroyed so quick it may as well not even have been a thing.
