[/b]Can I be convicted if the only evidence is the word of one person?

[Quote]Unfortunately, the answer is yes, if the jury believes that one witness beyond a reasonable doubt. Of course, your attorney should work hard to discredit that witness by exposing the witness's bias, lack of perception or perspective, issues with memory, conflicts in the testimony, influence of drugs or alcohol, impeachment through prior convictions and other methods of cross examination. Lack of corroboration will help your defense and increase the probability that a jury would conclude that there was reasonable doubt. [/b]

This is pretty much the silver bullet that proves the US system is hopelessly biased. Think about it;

A white woman considered a pillar of the community testifies a black youth raped her daughter.. He is convicted by a jury of his peers. He never forced himself on her, but the girls mother hates black people dating her daughter.

A justice system that depends on the whims of the public is not justice, it is mob rule.

You blame the world 🌎 for your failure. Do better. Then you can be a bro.

Yes. In all seriousness, why do you state that? I happen to agree with what you say. It is, however, better than a lot of other legal systems in the world. Certainly not the world's or history's best. But the u.s. is NOT the world leader in much really.
