Since Scottish is just a guttural form of the Northern British accent, I'm fairly confident Cavill can do a proper Scot accent.

Doubt it, studios are still wary of making action films R. They want that PG-13 for a broader theater audience.But with so many things going streaming quickly after or at the same time as the theater release. Who knows.

With the history of reboots/remakes almost never being better and rarely on par. Probably not, but we can hope.
Looks at the Robocop remake, on its own, it's an okay sci-fi action flick. But it lacks most of the charm and wit of the original.
