Gurney Halleck vs Duncan Idaho

Haven't seen Dune PT2, but Thursday is coming.

Both are armed with a personal shield, twin knives and at their best. They've been brain-washed to see the other as a Harkonnen animal, so no mercy.

Fight!

Based on the respective showing from the films it's good match.

Duncan probably takes it though.

I'd give it to Duncan Idaho in this series simply based on Duncan's scene against multiple Sardaukar.

Gurney is the more interesting character.

They are essentially the same fighter, so half/half I think. Not sure if age is even a factor since everyone is on the spice. Then again I'm speaking on the book characters.

In the new films Duncan had more of the "I'm the bad ass" scenes.

But Paul does note his notable fighting skills come from 'both his mentors'.

That's the weird thing since (at least in the books) paul is also pretty much on par with both. Thus his ability to take gurney in a fight (once he finally got in the mood).

Paul's very much the fighter bad-ass in this new series as well.

The point I'm making is that (ttbomk) atredes fighters (all of them) are pretty much equals in ability. any one has a 50/50 shot of beating anyone.

Okay, wasn't aware of that, been some time since I read the book, but I was under the impression Duncan and Gurney were the best-of-the-best in the formidable Atreides arsenal.

Something about the hybrid atredes/sisterhood training that makes their raw power less significant, thus Jessica beating Stilgar effortlessly. So yes there are naturally differences in strength, but it doesn't matter as much.
