I always felt that on the herald tier that magic users were a bit more diverse but more vulnerable physically.
What mystical attacks has classic HJ withstood? Could the bands of Cyttorak overpower a gl power ring?

if we are talking about classic strange and pre-crisis hal they are both far above herald tier

Hal when he was getting all those upgrades would curb stomp Strange. Now, not so sure.

But it would be through esoteric spells and round-about ways of debilitating Hal. I don't think going direct brute force would be Strange's approach.
