The last major DC/Marvel events that I genuinely couldn't wait to read from start to finish were probably SCW and Annihilation.

Don't get me wrong, there have certainly been some good/great events since those, but I just didn't have the same level of excitement for them.

annihilation is easily my favorite marvel event.

Something is killing the Children is the best right now.

yeah it's pretty solid for sure. 👆

Sinestro Corps War is basically the greatest Green Lantern storyline ever.

Annihilation is basically the greatest Marvel Cosmic storyline ever.

Maybe we should lower our expectations? Hard to rise to all-time greatest stories.

For me, I liked Trinity War, Doomsday Clock, Batman: Endgame and Thanos Imperative, Avengers vs. X-Men, and A.X.E. Judgment Day.

Doomsday Clock was the best. They didn't try to milk tie-ins and it was pretty self-contained. Also we got this:

There was another JLD one right after the Trinity War called Blight, which was a really good event contained in the JLD books - Phantom Stranger/JLD/Constantine/Pandora. It was excellent.

Lol, fair enough.

Honorable mentions for me would probably be things like Blackest Night, Final Crisis, Multiversity, Doomsday Clock, and Hickman's Secret Wars(along with all the build-up leading up to that.)

And Pak World War Hulk

😂

Does 52 count? It’s top shelf.

HoX/PoX is the last thing that got me truly hyped for mainstream comics

Slott also penned some fun Spider-Man events. Spider Island was great to pick up and read.

What was the Hunger Games/Most Dangerous Game sorta event where Arcade had a bunch of C listers grouped together on a booby-trapped island? That was fun too.

Half of the reason I got back into comics was because of Countdown to Infinite Crisis.

Those four Countdown titles were amazing. Sacrifice was pretty good too. And then the finale, Infinite Crisis, itself was definitely satisfying but... just good. The lead-up was great. Hasn't been matched since, IMHO. Before Countdown, I didn't know crap about Blue Beetle or Catman or Maxwell Lord or Adam Strange or Ragman but after? I was hooked.

I felt similar with Time Runs Out. In a different way because I knew all those characters well... and then seeing them have to struggle with the impossible choice was so compelling. And likewise, the finale of Secret Wars was just good... but not great like the lead-up. The way it just methodically tore down the members of the Illuminati was sick.

Probably will never see its like again.
