Stars: Ralph Fiennes, Stanley Tucci, John Lithgow

When Cardinal Lawrence is tasked with leading one of the world's most secretive and ancient events, selecting a new Pope, he finds himself at the center of a conspiracy that could shake the very foundation of the Catholic Church.

Might be the best film I've seen this year, highly recommend. Solid writing and acting all around.

I heard good things about this, and I find the catholic church disturbingly fascinating, so I will probably check it out at some point.

It sounds like a Da Vinci Code movie, and I love Angels & Demons.

It's not another Da Vinci Code like film, but the inner workings of the Catholic Church are fascinating.

If I show it to my wife will it help deconvert her from her Catholicness?

Doesn't paint the Catholic Church in a good light, but it's not really a damning movie either. Though I can see some Rightist getting triggered over the plot.

Reality is far more damning to the Catholic Church.

Have her read that. Written by a Scotsman. One of the finest pieces of literature ever .

My wife is fundamentally uninterested in adjusting any of her opinions on basically any subject. She is almost completely useless intellectually. It's kind of annoying.

So I was really kind of joking, but I appreciate the info anyway.

Regardless I may still try to get her to watch this movie.

If she enjoys thought provoking, well written and well acted films, she will enjoy this.

If she needs someone in tights doing back-flips to find a film engaging and enjoyable, she probably find this boring and slow.

Yea, dis a rlley gud fillum.

I give my review 8/10.

But in all seriousness, this is probably the best movie of the year.

It'll be interesting to see if it gets a nomination

I liked how the

Spoiler:
horror-esque music leads you to think it's going to end in tragedy, but your expectations are subverted and it actually seems like a rather pleasant outcome

Oh yeah, we both lost interest in bland comicbook movies a long time ago. Despite being an anti-intellectual she does at least have some good taste in some things. I think she rather liked the movie.
