First things first: hello KMC, my old friend 👋🏼! I can’t believe it’s been *12 years* since I last posted here 😬; that’s a whole “Spectre” and “No Time To Die” ago! Which actually brings me to my point…
What is, exactly, going on with Bond?
It’s now been over 5 years since NTTD wrapped filming, and (thanks to COVID) more than 3 years since it was released. Bond may have died, but the end credits - as always - still promised that he’d return.
So - where the heck is he … ?
3 years, and not a single announcement about story, director, or who’ll be taking over from Daniel Craig? Doesn’t this strike anyone else as a bit … odd? At this rate, we’re unlikely to get a new 007 adventure before 2027/2028 *at the very earliest*, which would make it the longest ever gap between Bond films. But why?
I’ve read rumours of a falling out between Barbara Broccoli and MGM’s new parent company, Amazon, over the direction of the franchise - but is there more to all this than that? Have they possibly just written themselves into a narrative corner by killing Bond off?
I still believe that James Bond Will Return … but when is another question 😬.
