Do parents who raise evil people go to hell when they die?

If for example a mother raises a son who is a child molester and/or a kindergarten shooter. does she bear some blame in the afterlife, or is it all on her son? For this topic, let's assume that the mother's worst crime in this scenario was being a neglectful absentee parent.

Going to say no.

They say that some child molesters were molested themselves (it's much higher with female abusers) and it's why they go on to do it. But that's no excuse, as people are responsible for their own actions.

Plenty of people had shitty abusive parents and shitty childhoods, but went on to be decent people who work and contribute to society.

Interesting...I disagree with the reasoning though. I think in cases where mothers first molested their little future-molesters, they would bear some divine blame. I don't see it as taking blame away from one in order to add to the other, but rather additional blame, for easily avoidable acts which caused predictable and horrible repercussions.

I think in such cases the entire lineage of molesters, no matter how long, would logically spend eternity in hell together. Just my "hot" take 🤪

It really depends on what framework you are using for your scenario. Some Christians believe in salvation by faith alone, others by works, and still others that salvation is predetermined by god. It is impossible to answer the question without knowing which Christian theology we are dealing with.

Right I forgot....it should be assumed that no repentance/salvation is involved in this scenario, and nobody feels a shred of guilt. I should have added that to the OP

If the parents are molesters too, then they're responsible for their own acts.

The thing about Rightwing religious people, they tend to believe they're personally exempt from the same religious rules and standards they pretend to live by and try to force others to live by.

In the US alone, how many times have you read a story about a Rightwing Christian stealing money, especially from the less fortunate, having gay sex in a truck stop, serial cheating on their spouse, being a sexual predator, being married and having gay sex, and/or molesting a child and they "forgive themselves", so it's all cool. It's not anecdotal.

No. The parents will not be held responsible for the choices that their offspring commit nor will the child be held responsible for the sins of their parents.

According to the Bible, no one is good as God defines good. This means that any Christian worth their weight in salt knows that no one makes it to Heaven due to their own good works because we have all fallen short of what God sees as perfect. The Bible also tells us without faith no one will ever see a glorious after life. What this means is that you can know scripture better than Pastors that have been reading the Bible for decades and not make it due to lack of faith, or/and understanding. The Bible even says that the work that we do with our hands are like filthy rags before a holy God. A whole lot of those guys in the Bible were not actually Holy, they were just asked to have faith.

So do whatever you like, just have faith. Got it. I don't think that's what religion is all about though. So disagreed.
