^ 😂
I can tell you that they are planning to go back to the source material.
I will lower expectations. I think Verhoeven's is a masterpiece and pretty impossible to top. Hell, I even kind of like the mediocre straight-to-video sequels. But Blomkamp is capable of something good, so we'll see. I might be interested in a more book-accurate adaptation.
I liked Elysium, but Chappie was utter unwatchable shit. Even with a Hugh Jackman mullet!! I learned recently, though, that it seems hiring that south African band as actors was apparently a big mistake. Not only did they suck, but apparently the guy was a total a-hole and Blomkampis had to keep him away from the real actors because he didn't want to ruin his reputation in Hollywood. That explains a lot about that movie.

I also went down that rabbit hole recently. The wife is also complete human garbage. They were made for each other

Starship Troppers (1997) is a guilty pleasure of mine, been I fan since I first watched it in the theater. So bring this on, Blomkamp is perfect to direct and if he's following the source material very close, Heinlein is a terrific SciFi writer. In fact, think I'll finally read the book.
You should always read the book
