Dante gets his ass kicked only by Lady because they make her OP for no reason other than the recently popular trope of "Girl Boss with Bumbling Male Protagonist". Otherwise he's pretty powerful. Faster than bullets and explosions, has access to his Devil Trigger, and is capable of taking on the bosses of several games. His healing factor is pretty powerful unless he's hurt by Lady, then he forgets he has it.
Even if the Morningstar works on him as a half-demon, he'll heal from any damage quickly and is physically powerful enough to dominate Trevor. Also...he has guns.

The only named demons he killed on his own were Agni and Cavaliere and he used a gimmick for the latter. He was just straight up losing to the main antagonist, who wasn't even a demon btw, until Lady saved him. Not saying he doesn't beat Trevor, but Netflix Dante is pretty weak.
Full Demon White Rabbit had Nero's sword embedded in his arm and was strong enough to punch Dante through buildings. He's pretty physically above any threat in Castlevania. Dante is nowhere near the games, but he's still decently powerful in the grand scheme. Especially if we take all his feats into account.

Yeah, it wasn't perfect but it was a lot better.
