Héctor Luis Valdés Cocho, 33, was arrested on November 19th in Orange County, Florida.
He is currently in the custody of the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement, detained at the Broward Transition Center, Florida.
The Orange County Sheriff's Office announced on Facebook that Valdés's arrest is linked to two outstanding warrants issued outside the county, specifically in the Río Indio area.
Various people have publicly accused Valdés Cocho of questionable practices that include financial deception.
Most testimonies describe a pattern in which Valdés solicited money under false pretenses, including family emergencies, health issues, and support for activism-related projects.
In his application for asylum, Valdés Cocho claims he is a gay independent journalist who is in danger for his political activism and criticism of the Cuban regime.
He is a an outspoken Trump supporter, who is now being transferred to Alligator Alcatraz.
