wow...that was a thorough explanation.....I disagree on a few points but nothing major....there could be Storm troopers that were conscripted... laws stating that certain planets pay a numbers worth of young men such and such a height and strength to be a part of the Empire....
who knows....I believe the Clones will become stormtroopers, but it's a big galaxy and there's room enough for there to be others as well....there certainly had to be a number of soldiers who wanted to be the officers of the Imerpial army

Actually I agree with you. I failed to mention that I also thought that regualr non-cloned humans made up a very small percentage of Stormies Ranks, as the Empire would be silly to turn down volunteers. Again though I don't think there's many volunteers in the Stormies ranks as they cost more money, if you think about it, all the Imperial Officers are regular Humans, as well as Death Star Gunners, as they aren't masked, so yes there are regualr humans in the Empires armed services, but the ones that are stormies are prob the rejects that couldn't make it as officers or other higher ranking positions.
Also, as for the clones being only faithful to the Republic, well I forgot to mention this also in my post before, but, the Empire has already started. Again, if you pop in the DVD and listen to the commentary, at the end of AOTC when Palpatine is overlooking the Clonetroopers. Lucas' own words say that essentially the empire has started, I can get his exacts words later, but, he does say that the empire has begun, once Palpatine was given the special powers he has all the power an emperor does, which is complete and total rule over all with no one to interfere. That is why the rebellion of the OT starts as Palpatine refuses to give back the powers that he was given, thus the rebellion starts. The senate, which was made an impotent governing body once Palpatine takes the powers, is disbanded in ANH because it becomes a hotbed for rebel recruitment! So, with that said, the clonetroopers are already following Palpatines orders, and he has essentially become emperor, he's just a name change away!
Also, Julie, please feel free to let me know what points you disagree on, as this is a forum, and I love a good debate, especially Star Wars driven!!
I think Stromtroopers army has clones and regular humans on its ranks. If you watch Behind the Magic (cd-rom Star Wars encyclopedia), the cut scenes fro episode IV show Bigs talking with Luke about going to the Imperial academy . Althought as a pilot he is probably refering to Navy academy , it appears to be a regular procedure to join the imperial forces (stormtroopers, Imperial Navy etc).

well yea, you can only grow so many clones in a certain period of time. And we dont know what happens to kamino yet either. It could be destroyed. But yea theres obviously other people than just clones in the Imperial Military.
GL himself states that in the prequels the army is made up of clones, no other source than Jango Fett.
At the time of the OT, the Imperial army is made up from the prequel clones, other clone-sources, volunteers and conscripted soldiers, thus millions and millions of troopers!
That's why there's a variety in length, voice, appearance etc...etc...in the time of the OT!
