Topic what is the power of Phoenix...

Powers: The Phoenix Force is a cosmic being made up of all the pychic energies of ever living thing in the universe. The Phoenix Force soul purpose is only of creation or destrustion. It does not know wrong from right, it soul purpose is to live. The Phoenix Force can tranduce it self in other being which enables the host to tape into the phoenix potentional. Depending on who the host is the Phoenix can amplfy the host ability and allow excess to the profound powers of phoenix. Phoenix in nature is psychic, but also has numerious abilites such as: Telepathy,
Telekinetics,
Astral Projection,
Soul Dislocation
Mind Control
Elemental Contorl
Weather Control
Time Dislocation
RealityCoverstion
Matter Maipulation
These are just a few of it abilites....

The first to commune with the Phoenix was the original Feron, who used its power to project the tower that would become Excalibur's lighthouse through the multiverse to serve as a lynchpin for Merlin's cosmic energy matrix. Feron's other colleague Necrom was jealous of the link Feron shared, and betrayed his friends, ripping the Phoenix from Feron. The Phoenix fled in pain and traveled the cosmos.
Thousands of years later, the Phoenix watched as Marvel Girl sacrificed herself to save her friends. The Phoenix saved Jean, placing her in a healing cocoon at the bottom of Jamaica Bay and created an exact replica that for all intents and purposes was Jean Grey. (This is the entity commonly called Phoenix II.) However, the Phoenix-Jean could not deal with the flood of human emotions in her human form, and was seduced into evil by the Hellfire Club, becoming Dark Phoenix.

Eventually the X-Men were able to overcome the Phoenix, if only temporarily, and she committed "suicide" during the battle with the Shi'ar Imperial Guard in the Blue Area of the Moon, destroying the human form she had adopted. The Phoenix then tried to return the essence it had borrowed from Jean, with the intention of reviving her immediately, but it included its terrible memories as Dark Phoenix, so Jean rejected it, and remained in the bay for months. The Phoenix then found the unconscious body of Madelyne Pryor, a clone in one of Sinister's labs. It brought Jean's essence to Madelyne, causing her to scream "Scott!" and awaken with a real consciousness.

When Rachel Summers sent her astral form back to the twentieth century, the Phoenix felt the presence of her former host (even if it was her alternate-timeline daughter) and merged with Rachel, who became the next Phoenix, although she did not know it until a post-hypnotic suggestion activated the Phoenix, jumpstarting Rachel's time-travel power and allowing her to physically transport herself to our era. During "Inferno," Madelyne, who had been corrupted by demons and the evil part of her that was dark Phoenix, tried to kill Jean Grey, who had emerged from the cocoon months before. As Madelyne began to kill herself, hoping to take Jean with her while they were telepathically locked together, the piece of the Phoenix that Madelyne had revealed itself to Jean, who accepted it (mainly memories) as part of her, thereby saving her life, even as Madelyne died.

Rachel Summers was "the Phoenix" for a few years, until she died in battle with Necrom. The Phoenix Force resurrected her in infant form and took her into space to regrow. While in deep space, the Phoenix (Rachel was still unconscious) encountered Galactus, the world-eater, and attempted to stop him. Galactus accused Phoenix of being a hypocrite, because while he consumed life, she, in her current form, was taking energy from life that was to come in the future. Phoenix realized the truth and shut herself down. As a result, when Rachel returned to Earth, she was still bonded with the Phoenix, but had a lesser access to its power. In one (now-defunct) timeline, The Phoenix Force apparently stayed bonded with Rachel until her death as the Mother Askani 2000 years in the future. In Rachel's (new) timeline, the Phoenix Force left her when she was adrift in the timestream after exchanging places with Captain Britain, and it apparently transferred it back to her "mother" Jean Summers.

Later, the Phoenix Force began to manifest in Jean again, complete with the firebird. It actually put Jean in a trance and talked to Professor X, showing him a vision of destruction in the future, yet reassuring him that his dream would survive and win in the end. So far, the Phoenix has augmented Jean's telepathic range, and her telekinesis to the point where she can feel the touch of another person on an object she levitated. When Magneto IV lured Jean to Asteroid M to save Wolverine, the two were trapped as the station descended into the sun. Not wishing to see Jean suffer, Logan stabbed her in the heart, but the Phoenix Force resurrected her and gave her the ability to create a spaceship and save herself and her teammates. Jean vreferred to the Phoenix as they, and said that she wasn't sure how much time the Phoenix would give her (presumably, to live). After her death, Jean encountered hundreds of Phoenix-costumed individuals in an astral plane of existence, indicating that acquiring or merging with Phoenix may be a stage of evolution most humans have not yet attained. Also bye doing so Jean evolved into the White Phoenix, the personna of all Phoenix...
Rachel Summers still maintains a fiery power signature, but does not appear to have the Phoenix Force any longer.

Recently, the Phoenix returned to Earth searching for Jean, and finding her dead resurrected her. Jean fought the Phoenix, however, and the Phoenix tried to possess Scott. It also woke Kid Omega from his formless existence, and he returned to life hoping to use the Phoenix Force to reanimate his dead love Sophie. All the X-Men's efforts, including Jean's own will, were not enough to stop the Phoenix, though Wolverine "killed" Jean countless times. Eventually, they managed to get Jean to shut down under an icecap, but the Pheonix escaped and came after Scott, hungering for his love and energy. Emma Frost enticed the Phoenix to enter her, and she took hold of Cyclops's energy beams, feeding off his near-limitless power. The momentary adjustment allowed the X-Men to throw both Emma and Scott into a module that was a scaled-up version of the scrambler tiara Beast had made years ago to stop Dark Phoenix. Unfortunately, Kid Omega damaged the module and freed the Phoenix. He tried to use the Phoenix to resurrect Sophie, but she spurned his affection and opted to remain dead. Quire's anguish released his hold on the Phoenix, and it came after the X-Men again, but this time, Scott had Emma telepathically link all the X-Men's thoughts to the Phoenix, and they overwhelmed it with their memories and love for Jean, and Jean was able to reassert control, stop a Shi'ar doomsday attack and leave the earthly plane. But a jot of the Phoenix Force visited one of the Stepford Cuckoos, who was waiting for it...

u gotta watch out for that mind s*x man. lol

jk 😆

yeah but that phoenix:endsong was good. i liked the drawings in it. y cant every comic book b like that

Yeah, Endsong was pretty good. Greg Land is good on pencils, but he's got some problem with proportion sometimes with the human body; large torso, legs that are small and don't..fit, per se.

true true

Whitephoenix, all of this was true but alot of its now very outdated. The retcon of 1986 has messed everything up so the origins of phoenix are somewhat vague.

Phoenix was created in 1980, Phoenix wasnt a seperate firebird entity, phoenix was jean it was merely the union of Jean Grey and the primal force of creation. It is that union which created phoenix. It all happened when Jean burned up in re-entry she briefly became an entity of pure thought (as depicted on panel) and she became one with all life in existence, all of creation. (this was the first indicator of her telekinetic godhood which was later mentioned in New Xmen, wherein her consciousness permeated all matter, energy, time and space) At this moment she evolved into a higher being and then she reformed a physical body for herself as Phoenix.

While all of this was happening Jeans phoenix self appeared to her and offered to save her by taking on her form. This wasnt a seperate entity as so many have misinterpreted and as the 86 retcon made true, originally it was just a shard of Jeans phoenix self. (Similar to how the dark phoenix of Endsong was just a shard of Jeans phoenix self). You see, Jean has always been a phoenix she just never knew it. Jean along with others like Quentin Quire are born with phoenix potential. As stated in New Xmen 128 Phoenixes are born in "blood, flame and sacrifice". Jeans sacrifice for her friends first released her phoenix consciousness, that part of herself which would go on to become dark phoenix and Logan again released Jeans Phoenix self in New Xmen just as they were on a collision course with the sun. Here is Jean talking to her phoenix self in Classic Xmen 8:

“-My consciousness, my form and its ability to communicate on this plane of existence derive directly from you. They provide an...awareness of your dominant emotions and memories.

-Oh great. You mean you're a figment of my imagination?"

-You jest, yet what is imagination, save the ability to conceive of that which is beyond reality. You are human.I am of creation.”

The phoenix energy signature is just a manifestation Jeans power it is symbolic of her death and rebirth into a phoenix "the ultimate mutation." Remember in Phoenixes first appearances Phoenix was seen as Jeans "ultimate potential as a psi." In its original form Phoenix was Jean it was just her in union with all of creation, it was her evolved state. Dark Phoenix was just a shard of Jeans phoenix self just how the phoenix in endsong was.

THE DARK PHOENIX SAGA

Originally Jean was supposed to just destroy a star however John Byrne took a dislike to Phoenix, he deemed her to powerful therefore he made her a mass murderer by adding panels where she destroyed the D'bari system and the Shi'ar ship.

Jean was then supposed to have a psychic lobotomy to remove her psychic powers but Byrne felt that a mass murderer cant be seen as getting away so lightly therefore he had Jean commit suicide.

1986 RETCON

Jean was a very popular character and fans were outraged at her death and the fact that she had become a mass murderer. Therefore Marvel made up a plan to bring back Jean 6 years later without her being tainted by her crimes of the past. They made Phoenix a seperate firebird entity that took on Jeans form and that was responsible for the destruction. That took the heat off of Jean and made her "pure" again. They then had Jean reborn from the energy cocoon with no ideaof what had happened. With Phoenix being a seperate entity, Marvel then had to come up with another origin for it. Thats where the whole Feron origin came in. 🙄 I hate that origin lol. This Phoenix was somewhat depowered and lowered in the cosmic hierarchy in comparison and was merely the psychic energies of all sentient life as opposed to the original phoenix which was Jean in union with the primal force of creation a power second only to The One Above All (Marvels God)

This retcon ended in 2002 with New Xmen which reverted back to the original idea that Phoenix is an evolved state that the genetically gifted can attain. Those with Phoenix potential. (Not just another cosmic entity that posesses people and amplifys their powers.) That is why you see Quentin Quire evolving at the end of New Xmens "Riot" story arc. As he is talking with Prof X he slowly becomes an entity of pure thought, he transcends the physical. This mirrors Jeans own earlier transformation into a phoenix. Later on in New Xmen 154 when Jean is in the White hot room we see that Quentin has evolved into a Phoenix. We also see a sort of "Phoenix corps" a gathering of other people whi have evolved to this point of ultimate mutation. This supports the Xmen Forever mini which stated that humanity more specifically omega mutants would some time in the future evolve into entities which would surpass and replace the abstracts and the Living Tribunal.

Interesting...though I would have really enjoyed Dakota Fanning! Still, that's just me as a fan of the kid; every child role in Hollywood can't be played by Dakota..unfortuneatly...

are they going to do the Annie-telepathic-powers-awakened-by-tragic-car-accident thing?

I wonder what color her eyes will be in the movie, since Jean's in the comics are green, but Famke's are brown...

That will be interesting, I hope they can pull off that whole "experiencing my friend's emotions while she's dying" thing..

Ech I don't look much forward to that anymore.

It could just a flashback scene. That are fun. 🙂

I don't know if you lot have seen this, but it is without a doubt the coolest phoenix manipulation I have ever seen!

Famke is gorgous in that! 😱

So there's supposed to be a battle between Jean and X. It would rock beyond belief if they did it on the astral plane.

That's an awesome pic. Was I the only person mortified by Jean's hair in X2. It was horrible. That looks awesome.
