yeah, and I think there right, "Space" stuff wouldn't fit in the film. I think that in the movie the phoenix has something to do with Mags machine or Cerebro, one of these (or the both) evolved Jean into the Phoenix, it has nothing to do with the water (although it shows her sacrifice to save her friends), she was already evolving at that time...
yeh, but y'know I like movie phoenix more than the cartoon, it's a more simple story, without all those nonsense things of the comics. I think they made a right choice putting the story that way, the movie is about evolution...i think that an entity taking Jean's body wouldn't be so believable as it is (until now, coz we don't know exactly how they'll put it onscreen)
Of course it wouldn't be as believable, and I completely agree with you, but I think in that case they shouldn't do the Phoenix yarn at all. The whole Phoenix thing and especially the Dark Phoenix saga is a well loved chapter in X-Men history so there's bound to be a comic book geek uprising if they goof it up.

Okay, Jean is NOT Pheonix. Pheonix is a cosmic being, who was alive in the universe before ours, before the big bang. It only manisfests itself through Jean (and some other people).
Jean was born about 50 years ago, whereas Pheonix was alive about 20 billion years ago.
After the pheonix/dark pheonix saga, jean only called herself pheonix as a nickname.
Thay are two seperate things, that people tend to get confused with.
