Hitler/Voldemort

anyone else notice the startling similarities between hitler and voldemort? both want a pure race, neither are pure themselves, both did mass killing, both even look vaguely similar (dark hair and eyes) . what d'you think? who else do people in the books remind you of?

Not really. You have made some similarities. But they are completely different characters/people (w/e). Voldemort is a wimp. Afraid of Dumbledore! Ha...I just don't....nvm... I'm confused...lol.

but hitler was incredibly clever though rather then voldermort hitler never killed a singel person he brain washed millions of people to do his dirty work for him unlike Voldemort goes house to house seeing who is on his sdie and kills them himself if they werent. but there are simalirties to the two hitler and voldemort start off as good people then turn into crazy killing machines.

i think theres lotsa similarities to lotr... well, lots of ppl do. i KNOW lotr isnt real... im constantly being told that. but there are similarities.

i see what your saying and i do aggre because hitler did mess with the occult in wwII in the book 'strange conflict' it explains thet the nazi emblem based on an anchient pagen symbol for white magic is inverted to mean black magic.

Hitler was dark haired and had a Jewish mother he was very fond of, yethe wanted to exterminate all but his "perfect race": blond hair, blue eyed germans, definitely not Jewish. Voldemort is a mudblood, but seeks to eliminate all of those not purebloods. I'd say there are some striking similarities to the two, even beyond that.

he also was crazy of finding religous artifacts, the grail, the ark of the covenant Eeven tried to find atlantis the fool. All those things which sorta reminded me of the quest to try and get the philosophers stone that creates the elixr of life that makes the drinker imortal and then in the 5th book the quest for the prophecy.

They are alot similiar and in an interview before the 4th book released JK even said that Voldemort reminded her of hitler. The news people had asked her if she can relate any of her characters to anywhere else and she said him and the whole thing that one of the school teachers acted like one of her teachers that she had in school. She wouldn't say which one though. I have done alot of reading up on her lately.

yeah, i agree too. there is a line where the similarities stop (the magic) and they start to grow apart, like where hitler got people to do his dirty work, whereas voldemort got his hands dirty. i think the whole pure blood thing probably comes from hitler himself(the ideas of jk) and its kind of scary that there are humans like voldemort.

If voldemort is as evil and powerful the wizards say he is, then why did he not use his power to control the muggles and be an evil dictator like hitler?
but its a childrens story, not a biography on hitler isnt it?
