Love is something the machine does not understand. It can see the chemical reactions but not further. It cannot see the CAUSE that is creating love, creating these chemical reactions, it cannot see in the soul of a human being. That is why the machines have the 0,00001% failure. That is why the One program exists (another measure of control). That is why we cannot predict what exactly is going to happen on Revolutions. There is another non-mathematical factor that prevents us from forming accurate predictions : the human soul.
JediHDM> Not necessarily. I think we talked about this before in connection to the Oracles prophetic abilities.
She’s also a statistical program, she’s an AI. Remember my example with Enter the Matrix. If I could crack the program-code, I could read through it, and would be able to predict every move the machine would make against me. It's the same thing in Reloaded. The Oracle and Neo can not only read the here-and-now code of the matrix. They can read the entire program, from the beginning to the end. And when humans jack in to the Matrix, they, too, become programs through their digital selves, and can, as such be analysed. What would be, say, Neo’s statistically most realistic action if this or that happened? Such as Trinity falling to her death? He would go to save her, as he loves her.
Simple.
The Oracle sees way ahead of us. It doesn’t mean that there is no such thing as free will. Just that we make our choices based on who we are. And if you can read my digital mind code, you can make VERY could predictions.
So the Oracle sees Trinity falling, just as Neo does. Not because Trinity lost her free will, or had a specific purpose. Neo and the Oracle just both see her falling, they see this action being executed later on in the program of the Matrix.
BUT people also make spur of the moment decisions...just because i tell myself im gonna jump off a bridge, doesnt mean im gonna go through with it when i get there...Also, part of my argument involves OUTSIDE the matrix...ie, Trinity would HAVE to enter the matrix, if the bolt does not break at that exact second...It is all governed.
JediHDM> But a “spur of the moment” decision is still based on who you are as a person. You have say to yourself, “I WILL do this”, and then change your mind. But in the Matrix, a program such as the Oracle owuld be able to predict that “no, he’s not going to go through with it after all. It’s his nature.”
It’s not that the bolt breaks at THAT exact second as such.
Neither Neo nor the Oracle can see WHY Trinity is falling. Or why she’s in the Matrix at that moment in the program execution. They can only see that se does.
pslice> yeah, ain't it cool! 🙂
But you're missing the point of choice...I am totally against drinking, however, i have the ability to change that and go out and get wasted tonight, and the machines would never see it coming. Its not in my nature to do that. And, if the ship is not hit at that exact moment, Trinity wouldn't have been able to do anything, anyway, because the power went off to the building the moment the door was opened. There would have been no other reason for trinity to go against the orders of her love, than if his life were in danger.
JediHDM> That’ were we disagree.
If say, this WAS the Matrix, then we’re all plugged in. You’re not really you, your body lies in a pod somewhere on tower B-hP-4560-23, and it’s your digital self, which is reading this. That means you’re a program. Albeit a complex one, but you’re written in matrix code. That code can be read by certain programs, such as the Oracle.
Essentially she can read your mind, as your thoughts are program-codes, too. But the Oracle not only reads your digital mind, she also studies the human PSYCHE, and can predict the outcome of a situation involving choice. Not only for you, but for everyone.
Because she sees the Matrix without time! She can see what’s going to be executed in the future. Including you going to a bar AND getting wasted. The decision is still yours, the Oracle merely sees the ENTIRE Matrix without time. What she studies is not your choice (she can already see that), but WHY you made that choice.
It may not be in your NATURE to go on a binge, but the Oracle would see you do that, as you WILL be doing it in the future, IF you make the decision. Because she can see EVERY single event INSIDE the Matrix that is GOING to happen. She simply studies WHY they happen.
That’s the Mero again: “You come to me without Why.” It’s not WHAT is going to happen that’s the question. IF you’re going to do it you’re going to do it. It’s WHY that interests her.
The Oracle would not be able to tell us WHY Trinity re-entered the Matrix, when she talked to Neo in the beginning of Reloaded. But she SAW it, because it was GOING to happen.
Rys> Hey, WHICH Neo/Oracle theory would that be? 🙂
JediHDM> No, that’s not really what I think is happening.
The Oracle (and Neo) can see the entire MATRIX, every event every incident that happens or which is GOING to happen.
It’s like being four-dimensional, so to speak. To really see every event that WILL happen, before they happen. However, in the Matrix there is even a logical reason why that CAN happen. You don't need metaphysics, just a sophisticated program.
The oracle can see the ENTIRE Matrix (not space-like but time-like) to the end of the path of the One. She may even have been given this program-ability to be able to STEER the One to the Architect from the beginning of the current Matrix.
All the Oracle can do AS SUCH is see: So she sees, that at a certain point in the execution of the Matrix Trinity is falling from a building. She doesn’t know WHY. The oracle can’t see OUTSIDE the Matrix, so she doesn’t know what happened to make Trinity make the decision.
The Oracle studies the “WHY” of the human psyche. It’s actually a stroke of genius on behalf of the W-brothers.
For SOME reason we make a decision and act upon it. The Oracle on the other hand, see the act, and studies WHY the act was made. What led up to the act. What in the human psyche makes us MAKE the decisions that lead to the acts, which we see. She’s bound, in a way, by her programming. She can’t TELL Neo what will happen straight out, as it would ruin his idea of free will. But she KNOWS that what she sees WILL happen. NOTHING can change it. Even though Neo tried.
