want to be a actor..where do I start?

hey evreyone one of my dreams in life is to be a famous actor lol (seirously). I figure now is the time to start. What should I do? do i need a agent? lessons? where should I start??? Thanks a lot.

first you need acting lessons i think. then try to get gigs, plays, commercials, lil small time roles, you know..ups guy in a B movie that sorta thing. then from there, hook up with a famous actress, not a hot one just a regular one, susan sarandon or something, then be real "nice" to her and perhaps tim robbins might put u in a movie and from there skys the limit. When you buy that house on malibu, please remeber my guidance 🙂

If it is possible find and study people who are successful. They made it so mimick them them. Also be sure to take as many roles as possible. Small or large.

Acting lessons is good. Also theater gigs, you learn a lot in theater. Then commercials and lots of auditions. Good luck 🙂

To get a part in any movie as a lead or just an extra - you first of all you need an agent!

grab a camera and do some stunts, worked for johny knoxville. you dont even need talent anymore.

raz is right, here in cleveland a few years ago I went to a modeling co. and there thing was to get me seen they would send me to auditions and some silly things like tropicana bikni contest and such,just to get your face out there, perhaps there is a local agent or company searching for fresh faces that can help you.

of course!! It depends what you are into though if you want to sing you need to write some songs! If you are into modeling you need an agent to help you look for something, like a little commercial, and keep building your way up!!

have you been in many amateur productions? ya need to have a diversity if u ever hope to be chosen. how old are ya? you need to think about and performnce degree - ther are many to choose frm, at drama schools and university. where do u live? if in england, contact equity, perhaps get a subscription to the stage, which always has auditions in. prepare an audition piece - shakespeare, some comedy and an unaccompanied song is what is usually used (but again, this is only for england - i dont know abt anything else) each of your audition pieces should be no longer than 2 mins, and be prepared to do weird things - they may want you to scream at the top of your voice, sing a song you've never seen or work as part of an ensemble. if you get past the preliminary auditions, be prepared to be shoved in a chair, attacked by a make up artist, then go out under hot lights and melt whilst trying to act!
