Here's an unconfirmed bit from 'DeadPool''s Blog on X-Men 3 casting:

Maggie Grace (Lost) is out as Kitty Pryde. The production team has just issued a casting notice for the role. Ratner and Co. are a smart bunch because they're using the script to The Astonishing X-Men comic-book as sides. Wanna know the irony? The comic-book is written by Joss Whedon, who every fanboy dreamed of having writing and directing X-Men 3.

This is from X-Men Hype...I kind of glad that they are not using Maggie Grace, I don't think she was the right choice for the role.

Brett Rattner has made some really good movies. Look him up through the imdb (.com) Don't expect him to try to hard to make it funny. That stuff just happens. Like in the Batman Begins... the comedy flowed awesomely and it made the movie that much better. While I don't really read the comics I do know quite a bit about xmen and I think that everybody is far too pesemistic! You hype anything enough and you're bound to be disappointed. Talking about it everyday might just do that. I like to check back once a month to check out the casting confirmations. Besides that, we have no idea of the type of movie that it will be. I'm sure it'll rock. BTW Kelsey Grahmer as Beast is probably the only one I can think of to pull it off! I'm mean c'mon, he's Frasier!

According to superherohype and Joss Whedon Summer Glau has read for Kitty Pryde in X3, nothing confirmed yet though. She's previously been in firefly and serenity.

I doubt that, Whedon have said that he isn't going to consider anyone until the script is finished.

my only complaint is that if rumours are true that this girl from firefly is both playing kitty and wonder woman, I think joss should open up and discover actresses rather than hiring actors from his shows...I mean, DUH! He's a good writer, but come on...get out of your comfort zone! Not all good actors are the ones who went under you in the past.
