how does writing your angry feelings down on a palate no one will read help you vent your anger?

couldnt you just write it down on a piece of paper, or maybe...(gasps) start a real journal.

You could type it out in Microsoft Word and then delete it afterwards.

We often share our life with people here. This is the same principle only more constant. If people want to do that, fair play to them, I say; no need to get at them for doing so.

of course the fact that there are people here reading what you type makes it more acceptable.

Most Journal entries are read by others as well- that is their purpose. But if you HAVE suchg a public on-line journal it makes logical sense for you to be able to use it as a private journal as well- it is more convenient that way. Possibly a lot more secure as well.

i dont know anyone who reads those things. if you know the person then you probably already know everything they are going to write in their live journal, if you dont know the person then why the hell are you reading their live journal, thats a little obsessive.

Lily and Shadow invite me to read theirs; it is a good way of keeping up with their life. Like I say, it is only the same principle as us coming here and sharing what is going on in our lives.

exactly, so if you do it on these forums, then why is it necessary to do it on 'life journal'. and besides, journals are supposed to be private, doesnt the fact that you are making you're journal available to the public defeat the whole purpose of having a journal?

Because they don't do it on these forums- they do it there instead, and do it regularly at a place designed for exactly that. Not all their friends come to these forums but all of them can go to a dedicated journal site.

And no, a journal is not by definition private.

In the end, they simply enjoy doing this. It doesn't harm anyone- so why get at them for it?

it becomes bothersome when i get these IM's from people i know saying "go read my live journal and answer the survey, blah blah blah"

(shrugs)

Tell them to got lost if they are bothering you, but that doesn;t really undermine the entire principle.

i like mine and enjoy writing in it and i like typing better than i do writing with pen and paper so why bother since i already spend so much time on the computer 😄
