😮💨 Mace Windu's demise will be the deepest, darkest, gut-wrenching lightsaber battle that will leave even those expecting it (as few will be) numbed. Windu will die by the saber of Yoda. Palpatine has used everyone- Sith, Jedi, Separatists, Republic- you name them and he's used them to his achieving the goals of total control. Windu has been played into his hands as well. This is not to say that Windu has necessarily turned to the dark side as Dooku has. Palpatine (not Sidious) is the alluring figure that Windu has/will support. Palpatine has a way of being whatever that particular person needs or wants and then uses that to his advantage. He is the ultimate illusionist. He is Kaiser Soze. Without going deeper into the plot, Yoda is the one. If Windu has to die at the hands of someone, and he does, who better to go out by.
😮💨 Here it is on the DL. Mace, open to ways of securing a future for the literally dying off ranks of Jedi, aligns himself with Palpatine against the orders of Yoda. There is a power struggle between the two, a festering cold war on the direction of the Order. Mace sees the wisdom of allegiance to the Republic and hence to Palpatine since he is quickly becoming in essence "The Republic". Yoda is strongly against such a move. As Mace becomes more deeply entrenched in this new alliance he is slowly seduced by Palpatine until it creates major changes in him. Little does Mace know that Palpatine is using him as a pawn to finally rid himself of the Jedi and to secure Skywalker for himself. Palpatine is well aware of the prophecy of the One who will bring balance to the force and is certain that it is Anakin. Windu becomes more powerful and with the power turns darker and darker until the final meltdown between Yoda and himself. It is Yoda who finally kills off Mace. Anakin sides with Mace and Palpatine. Obi-Wan with Yoda. The killing of Windu is the act that pushes Anakin to the very brink of the dark side. The ensuing battle between Obi-Wan and Anakin is what hurls him over the edge (figuratively and literally). Yoda "retires" to Dagobah in an act of defeat and guilt, but yet with a hope for the future. Obi-Wan basically does the same to Tatooine as a final act of allegiance to the Jedi Order, agreeing to protect Luke and in his hopes for Luke and the fulfillment of the prophecy.
