When Did Sex in the Movies Start?

I wondered to myself. I'm not posting this coz of sexual related content, but I wonder what's the earliest Hollywood movie that featured sex or nudity? If you don't know, just tell me what the earliest movie you've seen a pair of ****in jugs. Thanks a ****in bunch, chappies.

I'm not sure of this one myself,
but as a collector of certain types of memorabilia, I have a collection of 6 films from a series called "When Sex Was Dirty." It's a collection of the earliest knows porno loops from about the 1920's the late 50's, and you can actually see that in the earlier loops, the people were a bit hung up about what they were doing, but as you go along to about the 40's and 50's, you can see a more natural and relaxed approach and attitude as they do it, signalling a shift in attitude towards sex and it's myriad practices.

Strictly for historical purposes and sometimes funny as hell. 🙂

I myself have seen many clips of sexual content in silent movies from the '20s.........mostly of burlesque shows (topless dancing now).........

There was sex in the movies before they even had sound, so I would say early 20's!

wow, as early as the 20's, then again i guess people always have and always will be interested in sex so its only natural that as soon as films came around sex was introduced into them

Well it wasn't really until the christian church really gained power in europe that sexuality became taboo. The real rise in power coincides with the beginning of the witch hunts which targeted women's sexuality in a stupendously disproportionate amount to men's. This is also the time when male doctors gained power over the local midwife/herbalist for treating people's illnesses.

when they first started letting men and women lay on a bed in a way that showed they were going to have sex was around the time hitchcock made psycho. and i believe on tv the first couple to be shown in bed were fred and wilma flintstone, as far as real people were concerned in normal sitcoms, i think it was the brady bunch
