The lightning has never killed anyone. Light sabers is a valid point but they have discs along with superhuman strength and athleticism.

It's still lightning, lightning should hurt them if not kill them.

CLU wins because he can't actually die. He is literally invincible in the Grid. He's basically the moderator to Flynn's admin.

While his lightning is going at the combatant the other disc will hit and kill him. Leaves him vulnerable.

Vadar blocks the disk with his lightsaber, lightning is faster than their disk. Lightning hits first.

That doesn't really change the fact that CLU is going to walk through the lightning unharmed.
