Anyone else notice that Jar-Jar untimately killed the Jedi?
Ok, I searched through the previous posts and I didn't see anything on this...
I watched ATOC again last night and noticed... Jar-Jar killed the Jedi.
When he granted the Chancelor "Emergency Power" He escentially sealed the fate of the entire republic. I just find it curious that the Jedi were so lost in all this... I think they would have been better off to just let Jar-Jar die in TPM...
OK, you could say that about almost any character in the SW universe. anyone who was manipulated by palpatine is partially responisble (from a certain point of view ), meaning anakin, many senators, jar jar, the jedi themselves....
but in reality, palps is the one who did the manipulating, he started the chain of events that led to the empire and the jedi purge- so he should be blamed above anyone else.

Re: Anyone else notice that Jar-Jar untimately killed the Jedi?
Since we already knew that Palpatine would remain in office & become Emperor, I noticed this upon my first theater viewing of AOTC. However, I didn't take it so far for reasons everyone stated above. I did decide for myself that Jar Jar's actions in AOTC made him one of the most important characters in the saga just or doing that one thing. I don't care what else he did or didn't do. I would feel the same about whoever ended up motioning for the emergency powers. Since it was Jar Jar, his existence is completely justified in my eyes. And I stand by my statement last month that I actually would've like just a bit more of him in ROTS. Nothing major and not much dialog (if any more), but just a little more of him and others on Naboo reacting to Padmé's death.
Keep in mind Padme voted no confidence in Vallorum, which is how Palpatine wound up being Chancellor to begin with. Basically you could pin the blame on EVERYONE.
