No Spider-Man 4?

I have just read an interesting article on Comingsoon.net regarding Spider-Man 3 and news on spider-Man 4. I don't know if it's allt rue or not...but...

Sam Raimi, executive producer of Sarah Michelle Gellar's The Grudge and director of the "Spider-Man" franchise, gave ComingSoon.net an update on Spider-Man 3 and whether or not a fourth film is likely. He also addressed the rumors about Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash.

Sam Raimi on the fate of the Spider-Man films:
I know how quickly things turn in Hollywood and after the third, that will be it…I'm not supposed to tell and in fact, I can't tell you cause I'm still figuring it out. I don't exactly know; I've got a few ideas…I was working on it yesterday with my brother. We are writing the story right now and we are starting by determining what Peter Parker's journey is as a human being. What deficits does he have; where was he at the end of the last film and what is it that he still has to learn? How will the relationship with the woman that he loves evolve from this point forward? And what will be their new obstacles? Will it come from outside forces or will it be something from within that destroys their love? These are the questions we're asking. When we got them figured out, when we know what they want and where they are headed and what it is they have to learn, those obstacles that they encounter, that will prevent them, (which the source of any drama, those conflicts). We will try and find the villain that best represents those conflicts. It may be a kind of backwards way to choose a villain, but that's why I can't quite say yet…I'd love to make more; I think that Sony just…I think that Amy Pascal who is really my boss, chairman of Sony. I've never asked her, but I get the feeling she just wants this one to be the final one. She's very emotionally attached to them and wants us to have a sense of completion to it, for the audience. And feels that's what the audience wants and they don't want to see a Spider-Man 4. That they would probably would like to see a Spider-Man 3, but probably not really anymore. So she wants to make it complete and final without setting up new things at the end, like the end of the second one.

Sam Raimi on when Spider-Man 3 begins shooting:
That date's in flux. I think by January 2006, I know that sounds like a long way away, but not for me.

Sam Raimi on who he hopes to write the film:
(We are) Bringing in really good writers such as Alvin Sergeant. Maybe Michael Chabon, if I can get him. Yeah, the best in the business.

Sam Raimi on a Spider-Man 2.5 DVD:
I know that I won't be done with my part of it (for the November 30 DVD)…The new effects shot. The editing; I'm still boarding the new scenes. I don't know, but I don't think I can be done till at least January, maybe February…I'm kind of completing scenes that I didn't have the money to complete when we did the movie. I board out with my artists a lot of sequences from the Spider-Man movies that I eventually cut down for pacing sake. Most often times for money sake cause I can't afford them. Now Sony said to me, we want to release a 2.5 because they want to make more money. The movie was really the best I could make it; I said if you really want to spend money and really give the kids a few more action scenes. They said fine, it's the kid's choice if they really want to spend that money and I think it's fair. .. It may not seem like a lot to you, but it's a lot to me. There's like 6 seconds new of the train sequence. It's going to be like 8 seconds new of some water fight you never saw. It's like 12 seconds new on this battle building. For me, 12 seconds is 6 shots that have to be all figured out. In that 2 seconds, the amount of animation of in the tentacles. How Spidey is going to movie and it's very complicated to me.

Sam Raimi on the announcement of Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash:
In Variety, they said they were making it was very unusual. I don't know much about their plans, but we'd rather not do that right now…As fun as that sounded, I think they are two different worlds. Evil Dead and Freddy and Jason; maybe at another time that would be a better combination.

If this is true, we might be seeing Green Goblin 2 in the next movie and also The Lizard also?

To be honest though, I am incredibly confussed by all this. I have read in magazenes about possible release dates for Spider-Man 3,4, 5 and 6. What do you guys think? Please prove me wrong...

somebody needs to tell Amy Pascal that she is wrong... VERY WRONG!

well thats what i think anyways. coz i want more than just 3!

Exactly, the fourth movie should be the last one. I'm going to feel very cheated if they only do one more. There are so many villains out there, they can't just have three........four movie's is enough for me.

I really want Ash to be in Freddy vs. Jason 2!!!!!!!! 😠

I'm confused. But if Raimi doesn't make S4 then someone else will.

reborn.. you dont want that to happen! i think they are doing a good job with the movies. if somebody else takes over they might not do anywhere near as good a job.... remember what happeend to the batman films... burton did good.. and then Joel Schumacher had to come along and ruin them all. i dont want them to risk letting somebody else get their grubby hands on it..... however... they could make them better... but i doubt that!

oh yeah.. and 4 wouldnt be enough for me... id be quite happy to watch as many as they can make!

If another director does sign on I vote they get rid of Tobey. Annoying lil' twirp. He doesn't fit the Peter Parker ideal I have in mind. Too short.

wow no i thought he played it well.... also im dead against the idea of getting somebody else.. that would spoil the series!

I sure hope they stop at 3 since sony has screwed up the spiderman franchise and the films have been nothing but crap. 😠

actually Burton did horrible.Tim Burton is an idiot who should NEVER have been allowed near a batman franchise. He made the worst casting choice in comicbook history casting Keaton for Batman who was so physically wrong for the role. 😠 actually Batman forever is the best batman movie because Kilmer fit the role of bruce wayne a lot better and the movie was all about batman instead of being all about the villians like Burtons were.Burton ruined the batman movies worse than Schumacher did.

Parker - you have exactly two posts that you re-write and post over and over again.

A) Man-Spider was a sin and
B) Tim burtons batman was crap.

Irrespective of whether I agree with you or not - for the love of god stop posting them in every frikin thread about spidey or bats. Its making you look like a dangerous (yet dull) lunatic.

mr parker is right!!!!!!!! spider man movie ...ahhh it just sucks plain and simple ....sam ruinded, end of story

thanks spider-venom.cant do it mr zero, not till people stop making false statements that Tim Burtons Batman movies are great or that there has been a good spiderman movie made.if it bothers you so much, simple solution, dont read my posts.

all i can do is disagree parker.. you havnt really given much of a reason as to why you dont like the spiderman movies.. although if zero is right then i can probably go find out in another topic. but i cant be bothered. your opinion is your own. i like the spiderman movies because along with many other reasons, they pay tribute to my favorate comic ever!

and i think we will just have to disagree on the batman films also, i love burtons work, i love his style and i love what he did to the batman films. he kept them dark like they should be, Schumacher just turned them into a cheesy mess.

also! for all those people that say these films just suck and thats it, you try making these films... id love to laugh at your pitiful attempt...... not so bad now is it?

not till people stop making false statements that Tim Burtons Batman movies are great or that there has been a good spiderman movie made.

oh yeah... also, these arent statements.. these are OPINIONS.. something you cant really stop or change.

You are SO right. My god the evil they did to the Spider-Man saga is unforgiveable. The only decent thing out of those two movies was Doctor Octopus. He was great. And Jonah Jameson too.The rest were awful.

Why did they have organic webshooters??? I missed the classic wrist mechanical ones 🙁

I thought the web-shooters sucked! that was such a crappy idea! I wonder what Stan was smoking when he came up with that idea.

The Spider-Man movies are awsome! and I loved the first Batman.
They didn't screw Spider-Man up, all they did was evolve his power for the best. But instead of accepting it, you feel you have to bash it like when a three year-old doesn't get thier way. Quit crying and accept it.

You could at least say 'I THOUGHT the Spider-Man movies sucked' so there-fore your clearly stating that it's just your opinion.

Sam Raimi is awsome and he made the movies a hell of a lot better then they could have ever been.

Tobey MaGuire fits Pete perfectly! they couldn't have choosen a better Spidey!

ah great to see that you see the light about sonys spider-man franchise Endenkton.great to see another true fan on here who hates those freaking moronic organic webshooters and wont accept these movies.they gave him those moronic organic webshooters because they wanted to do their own little version and did not care about the true fans like me and you and spider-venom who want to see the TRUE representation of his TRUE character on screen and not this phony neautered version of sonys.they just had to go and turn him into a damn monster making him become man-spider.The organics are stupid because their is no logical reason for the webbing to shoot out of his wrists, logically and realistically the webbing would shoot out of his ass if he had organics.

you say the only good thing about these movies is doc ock.and yet they screwed up his character as well making him a good guy manipulated by his tentacles and becomes evil because of them.first they screw up spidermans character, then mary jane making her character much more like Gwen stacy and hardly anything like Mary jane, then the green goblin making him look like an alien from outer space, now doc ock.I wonder whats next? The Lizard becoming evil because his tail manipulates him? with sony and Raimi anything is possible and I would not put that past them. 😠

I actually give sony more credit than you do,the special effects are clearly the best part of these man-spider movies.man-spider 2 had the potential to be a magical movie and masterpiece like the first two superman movies are unlike man-spider did,it wasnt near as horribly written as man-spider was.But they had to go and make stupid mistakes like not only people that Peter knows find out his identity but everybody on the train as well,to keep it from being a great film. They need to bring on richard donner the director of superman to make a spiderman movie because he's got that magic touch when making a comicbook film as he demonstrated when he made superman which still remains the greatest comicbook movie of all time.

Like I say,I actually give more credit to the movies than you do because your right,J K simmons as JJJ was great and clearly the best part about these movies besides the special effects.also William defoe gave an amazing performance as Norman osborn in the first film but the green goblin costume damaged his great performance and ruined it.Man just think how great he really would have been if he had the right green goblin costume.

sadly, the best adaptation to the screen so far for spiderman is the 90's toon.As I have said before,I was dissapointed with what they did with that cartoon as well making stupid mistakes like not including Gwen stacy in the show or betty brant and having almost all the episodes revolve around the kingpin having his major villians like doc ock and green goblin being lackeys working for kingpin. That sucked. The show got progressively worse as it went along with stupid storys but the first season that show had some great episodes and the first seasons episodes are by far better than either movie.at least on that show we see his true character spider-man,the guy with mechanical webshooters, not man-spider like we see in these horrible films.

Its funny,I love spidey much better than superman, yet sadly when I watch the superman cartoons, its like just watching another cartoon where the movies and the tv show smallville do something special and magical for me,with spiderman, the movies absolutley have no magic to them other than the special effects and the storys of the 90's toon hold something special for me and move me,too bad the movies dont have the magic the 90's toon does.Casting tobey mcguire was Raimis big mistake in the first place. He does a good acting job as Peter Parker but he is totally wrong for the role because his voice makes me cringe when he talks. For spidey, you got to have someone who has a greta voice and tobey does not.Thats what was great about the 90's toon was the guy who did the voice for spidey WAS spidey. He had a great voice and thats what made that show great.Tobeys voice is so wrong especially for spider-man. 😠

and i think we will just have to disagree on the batman films also, i love burtons work, i love his style and i love what he did to the batman films. he kept them dark like they should be, Schumacher just turned them into a cheesy mess.

also! for all those people that say these films just suck and thats it, you try making these films... id love to laugh at your pitiful attempt...... not so bad now is it? [/B][/QUOTE]

Burton was the worst thing to happen to the batman movies.Making the worst casting choice in comicbook history casting pudgy gut receding hairline half bald short runt michael keaton for tall muscular handsome full set of hair bruce wayne.what a total joke.Thank god Burton has nothing to do with Batman Begins.Val Kilmer was better because he physically fit the role of bruce wayne a lot better.as far as the first man-spider movie goes, anybody could come up with a better script than that idiot david koepp did.how the hell did that guy get to be a screenwriter? his screenplay and story looked like it was written by somone with the ideas of a 5 year old so it wouldnt be any worse than HIS PITIFUL attempt. At Least man-spider 2 had a better story and looked much more professionally written.the first one didnt even come close to looking like the work of a professional.anybody could do a better job than his pitiful attempt. The screenwriters for the second one were much better screenwriters than Koepp is,thats obvious.

I agree that Tobey's voice is little freakish.

But I'm so sick of you saying your a true Spidey fan just because you hate the organics! so said that he see's the light, not true, weither the movies are good or bad is a matter of opinion.

My brother is a Spidey fan (not huge) but he's like the comics for decades. He was so happy when the organics were created, he hated the web shooters.

The organics don't matter, it's a small issue. I probably would've hated the movies if the webbing was from wrist watches. His webbing wouldn't come out from his ass, a spider's abdomen is it's strongest point which is why web comes from it, for a human it's our arms, that's why Spidey's web comes from his arm.

The movies weren't a piece of crap, they raised billions at the box office because so many fell in love with the movies. They're all true fans, why? because they like the movies no matter what. That's what a true fan is.

You keep saying the web shooters are better, why? I have yet to see you post a reason apart from 'it betrays the comics!' which is a load of bullshit.

He's not a monster. There is so point on calling him 'Man-Spider' because it's pretty much exactly the same as 'Spider-Man' apart from it's a cheap and crappy name you gave to him.
