I've been out of the loop, but what is New Son Gambit? What did they do to mess that character up?

Gambit New Son was an alternate universe Gambit whose powers were at full potential. On his earth he somehow burned up every living been by accidentaly releasing his powers or something like that. I think he may have a bio on Wikipedia under Gambit New Son.
