He only did a couple of minor things with it because he didn't want to abuse it's power, but it did make him all knowing. The Sword contained the will of God himself though, and it was pretty much stated that it could do anything.

^^ yeah but it has been proven otherwise that it isn't. The Sword of Superman was never retconned and so it still stands. Iirc if I remember correctly, God himself said he was proud of superman's decision.
