The ins and outs of Slade Wilson

I've been on a few comic boards in my day, and there are some things out there about Slade that either aren't explained well enough, or just are flat out crap. Here's a few:

Slade can hit Flash if Flash is going full speed.
Slade can dodge Superman if Superman is going full speed.
Slade could take on Wonder Woman.

etc, etc. Well, what I'm going to do is give a dissection of Slade Wilson, and what he can and cannot do.

The kneecapping. Notice the mention of a tranquilizer. Though Impulse would metabolize it out quickly, this is not an indication of Slade being able to hit Impulse with a shotgun blast. This is Slade hitting a target that's standing still. If anything, this is how ruthless he is.

Slade's reactions are at the speed of his thought process. Though this is quick, it does NOT make him quicker than Spider-Man, who can move 15x quicker than a normal man, or Quicksilver who is even quicker than Spider-Man.

Slade tagging Kid Flash. Now, there are two things to keep in mind here.
1. Kid Flash is not moving full speed in a sprint, so this is not his quickest.
2. Slade is getting tagged at a very rapid pace. He was able to dodge one hit, then roll with the momentum and tag him.

These scans speak well for his pain tolerance. Here's when people get it mixed up.
Durability is bulletproofing.
Pain Tolerance is being able to push past pain.
Slade is not durable enough to take anti-tank rounds to the chest. He can heal quick enough to take it, and can push past the pain. Guess it speaks well for his healing abilities as well.

Damn. His quickness and the hormone additive allow him to see things slower than most people. However, THIS IS NOT PRECOGNITION! He's getting no forewarning of what happening. I'll explain more later.

Slade just punked Wally West? How? First of all, he's not precognative. The first blast was while Wally was just turning around. Then, Slade made sure there was only one way for Wally to go, and that was where he was. That is planning ahead, NOT PRECOG! It's a strategy feat.

This is the instinct mode. This is where he can mentally put himself to where his only thoughts are on survival, due to his 90% brain control. It allows him to push past pain easy.

This is where his 5 or so ton strength comes in. He's strong enough to move Wonder Woman. There's still no precognition, considering she was able to hit him. She wasn't really pushing herself.

Superman is NOT moving at full speed there, even though it's a great show of agility on Slade's part. He's very good with acrobatics, but don't kid yourself into thinking Slade is trying.

Okay, right there, notice how Slade once again tricked Wally to move into the blade. There was nowhere else to go. It's not precog. It's knowing your opponents. Strategy feat.

Precognition is a form of extra-sensory perception which allows a "percipient" to perceive information about future places or events before they happen (as opposed to merely predicting them based on deductive reasoning and current knowledge).

Tactics again. He was able to outsmart his opponent, but by no means defeated them. He just escaped. A huge difference.

Now, I've been throwing this pic around like crazy to those who say that Slade can evade anyone uber in DC if they're moving full speed. Slade vs Superman:

There we go. So, I hope I've cleared things up. Here's what I've discovered through my research:
Slade is an amazing tactician, but is not precognative.
Slade cannot speedblitz
Slade has enhanced reflexes. He does NOT have superspeed.

There you have it.

That was difficult.

He's stronger then five tons though, he once easily carried a thing that took a hundred men to carry at the place.

Otherwise, pretty good.

I wasn't being very generous with the strength, to be honest. It may be more around 7 or 8.

I also just noticed a couple grammatical errors on my part. Let me correct them real quick.

I meant to put don't kid yourself that Superman is trying.

Great thread... I always wondered how he managed to stab Flash and some of that crap...

Yeah, it's kind of an essay on his abilities, and how he pulls stuff off. Thanks to Long Pig and Silver Spider for the scans.

Excellent thread. It's a very clever way of proving fanboys wrong.

And giving new fans something to drool at. Probably the generation of Deathstroke fans won't be using stupid arguments and fakefeats to back up their favourite character, so you might have done us a tremendous favour, Thunderstrike.

Slade is a very cool and tough character, but he does have his downpoints. This thread illustrates that beautifully.

Every character has those. And most of the character have some serious fanboys too, but making a thread like this is still cool. Gives some perspective for the users.

And I'd like to say that this is how more respect threads should be done. It's rather unbiased, and points out both strengths AND weaknesses....good showings and bad (though still mostly good). Bravo.
