Tifa(FFVII) vs. Zell(FFVIII)

Both are the resident monks of their respective games. Neither have any spells, only their fists. Battle takes place at the Tenkaichi Budokai arena of DBZ(only knockout doesn't equal a win). As much as I love Tifa, I gotta go with my dog Zell here.

Zell has an optimistic trait, and his Judo/karate mix matches Tifa's Street/kung-fu.

Tifa has that.. "I need to complete my mission" Trait, so, it's a tough match.

Zell throws punches, Tifa throws mostly kicks. Hmm. I'm gonna go with Zell, since punches are faster than kicks, most of the time.

That is true, punches are faster than kicks, and are overall more effective. Also, I would say that Zell also has boxing in his style. Zell is also physically stronger, tho Tifa is faster.

techniqually speeking, zack is more poewrful game wise since his limit break (if u abuse forward back then up down again and again for upward of 1,000,000 damage...) but storyline wise Tifa should be more powerful

Well i dunno about applying real world physics to games, but in my experience kicks are alot more effective, especially if you snap it fast enough. Plus you grow tired faster blocking kick than you do for dealing them, the same cannot be said for punches because they are alot easier to dodge aswell as block.

Wrong. Kicks are much easier to dodge and counter if you know how, and are slower as well. Kicks can leave you clumsy if you f*ck up. If someone blocks a punch, so what? If someone blocks a kick, you're in trouble.

Only for an ametaur, if you know your kicks you can and will shift your body weight, however if your blocking you have to be in a postion to block alot of force thus you will react slower than the attacker.

I studied karate for 3 years and am currently studing Tae-Kwon-Doe, and have been for 2, i have to know these things ^-^

I am a wrestler and am to starting to learn boxing, have many martial artist friends, and am an UFC fan, I know these things. big grin

Ahh i see, I read somewhere that ever year in this world tournament Judo pwns Kick boxing. To the point where some Kick boxers forfeit if they get put again a judo martial artist
