Saw American Beauty last night for the first time in ages...I don't care
what anyone says this movie is/was a masterpiece. Agree? And, if so,
what do you think are recent ones that are on par? There Will Be Blood?
I really liked American Beauty the thing between Kevin Spacey and Mena Suvari was super crazy. I really liked her character in that though she reminded me of a girl i knew in middle school. Very authentic. I'd like to see her in another quality role.
Weird I just saw this move after not seen it for a long time (much like the thread starter). Last time I saw it I was a teenager and saw it in a very different light than I do now. As a teenager I really liked it and thought much of it. Seening it now it just didn't seem so great, I dunno why. Maybe it's because I've seen so many movies since I first saw this movie and comparatively it's good but not great IMO.

Hahaha that's one part I thought was sorta deep and beautiful as a teen. Seeing it recently it just seemed really overdone , stupid and melodramatic to me. It's a ****ing bag in the wind...

That's the thing with a lot of movie-goers, they lack the empathetic tendency to respect feelings that they may never feel. I will never think of a bag like that, but the concept is so beautiful that I can't dismiss it.

I still think shes a fantastic actress. She hasn't had a role on par with American Beauty in quite some type but thats to be expected because it was such a hard movie to top. Hopefully she is still acting.
