i think if 2020 were redone, it could be a lot cooler and tougher, but its feats are....not good. he had his a$$ kicked by both spider man and classic machine man. imo, writers have STARTED trying to maybe "undo" some of that by giving future starktech some credit. maybe? could be due to the revelation of the new arno in IM books perhaps?
Yeah, it seems like 2020's been given a smidgen of a push over the last few years(about time), but like you said: historically speaking, he's been wholly unimpressive... The idea of 2020 is better than the character actually was, imo.
The scan I posted is from ASM #683, wherein Otto had ridiculously haxxed counter-measures in place for all of the Avengers. As an example: in the very same issue he'd replaced Rhino's horn with a tooth from the Midgard Serpent, so that he could skewer Thor(I'm sure you remember this.) The 2020 StarkTech Otto used was just another piece of said haxxness, imo.... I was still impressed, though.
