It's not like they're creating a discussion that's already had a thread born from it.

If it's been done recently, then you're supposed to search and find it. Bumping a 2 year old thread with "lol" is stupid and annoying, and serves no purpose whatsoever.

Those would never go 2 years without a post. Bumping something that's an hour old isn't a problem. Randomly posting "lol" for no reason in a thread that died 2 years ago is.
