Buddy, as I said.. the ultimate proof in how UNCLEAR the artwork is... is that NOBODY picked up on this "shield" for how many years on this site. Find me a post mentioning thanos using a shield 2 years ago.. 3 years ago.. 5 years ago.. You won't find it. These are SEASONED comic book readers who have read the comic and seen the scans countless times. Shit, the fight itself has been discussed ad naseum and yet no mention. You don't think that shows and proves it's NOT clear? I mean honestly, if it was so clear.. it would've been talked about for years and years now and be seen as a fact. Yet it wasn't and hasn't been viewed as such. Yet, people are going to argue it's clear.. lol.. come on man.

it might not have been brought up for any number of reasons though and of course i can't show a post from 3 years ago. but that doesn't mean there wasn't mention of it. if not here some other forum. i never brought it up, but i don't recall ever being involved in a discussion where it had a chance to come up. or maybe i was and just never really looked at it or thought about it.

the idea that a shield is not mentioned is not strong proof though--at least it is no stronger than the artwork being proof there is a shield. comics are primarily a visual medium after all. it's also using a negative to support the stance. do i know that every single time in thanos's.....40yr history that every time he used a shield it said explicitly on panel that he used one? no i don't. i doubt you or anyone else could say it for 100% either. and since no one can, that leaves doubt. that doubt+the artwork is enough for me. maybe the writer didn't bother to mention the shield because he thought the artwork said enough? also a possibility.

whatever. celey is right about one thing though--clearly the artwork is not clear enough to everyone. which of course is what led to my initial post regarding the differences in the ways people interpret the exact same image.....

Which is my point though, the artwork certainly isn't clear. Yet that is the MAIN thing people are basing there being a shield on.. something that isn't clear. Plus, my point was to illustrate that people not familiar with Thanos wouldn't see a shield, if many seasoned comic book readers and people who know Thanos does have shields.. didn't see it for years. how clear could it really be if those people didn't see it. You won't find one post.. not one that talks about Thanos using shields and is for years and years and years... with the fight being discussed over and over again. Surely, you would agree, that this makes it even more convincingly that there is nothing CLEAR about the artwork. What is more clear and defined is Thanos history of NEVER using invisible shields and them not being mentioned. Not only has he used inv. shields less than shields we see.. EACH and EVERY TIME they have been mentioned. What is more proof, is siding on the sake of consistency. Is it more likely the artist saw the previous comic with THanos shields DRAWN. Undoubtedly he saw said comic. Why would it be more likely then to not draw a shield NOR mention a shield. It wouldn't be more liekly, it would be more likely he would keep things consistent.

The art work is pretty clear to me since I see a circle surrounding Thanos chest and bottom area and the blast isn't touching him. Can't get any clearer.

Yet it was SO clear that nobody saw it for YEARS AND YEARS on this forum? Ooo must've been crystal clear. We aren't talking about some obscure characters and obscure comic. We are talking about fight that has been talked about probably more than any other fight on this forum. Yet, it was never seen.. That totally disproves how CLEAR it was Carter.
