Charlie is not some spastic teen like the original. Looks like he goes from average teen to badass vampire hunter.
Red Mist as Ed, fail.

Kyle Reese as Charlie is a good choice, but still, Charlie was a bit of a spaz, this guy seems a bit too cool.

So I watched about a third of Fright Night tonight. Being a projectionist has its perks.
The first half hour was promising. The rest was entertaining but nothing compared to the original.
Colin as Jerry the Vampire was threatening. Very spooky.
Anton as Brewster was good. Though I expected more I blame the script.
David Tennant was Jack Sparrow and his character probably grew by the end but I didn't see it. I reckon he would've shined more by the end.
Toni Collette as the mum was awesome as always but didn't get nowhere enough screen time. The mother in the original was the ultimate loss for the hero if he failed. In this movie she gets put in the sin bin.
I didn't see the last half hour but this film did have enough chills to creep me out and the vampire had scenes that truly made me wanna see him get his ass kicked.
Also the film leaves the simple nextdoor formula and takes the threat outside of that basic setting. [SPOILER - highlight to read]: house gets blown up.
