Chapter 2 was better than the adult half of the mini-series, and Chapter 1 was better than Chapter 2, but I still prefer the original mini-series overall because Tim Curry brought all the charisma to Pennywise. Skarsgard does fine, but I prefer the character to have more humor. He had more humor in part 1, and even that failed to live up to the brilliance of Pennywise. Chapter 2 being nearly as long as the entire oritinal mini-series just is not necessary. Even though they technically improved on the ending, I would have preferred it be a short ending even if it was inferior. I was just ready for the movie to end.

And the adult half of the miniseries had considerably less focus on Bill's relationship with Georgie than even chapter 2 of the film did. The adult half of the miniseries is incredibly weak and corny.
I heard the side plot of the skateboard kid was added because McAvoy thought there was something missing to Bill's adult character arc. The whole mirror scene was added for that purpose. McAvoy was right that if you take that out, he has nothing, but it also felt poorly done and shoehorned in.

I watched some of the Red Letter Media review for this and even though they didn't entirely recommend it, it made me a little more interested in seeing the films. So I may at some point.
An epic on the scale of modern comic book movies, It Chapter Two is a big deal for the horror genre. While not flawless, there's just so much to love being back with the Losers and Pennywise.
I saw it and I somewhat concur. Chapter 1 was better.
I wasn't a big fan of the seizure-inducing, strobe light Spider-Clown climax. The film did have some nice sequences, but was also sort of a mess. I felt like the script could have used some work... for example did the gay guys beaten up at the beginning have anything to do with the rest of the film?
I liked Stephen King's cameo, though. That was nice.
I'll probably give it another chance, but I found it somewhat disappointing.
