If you can find where I denied the existence of the "new" meaning of emo, I'll give you a penny. I simply said it shouldn't exist, and that people are stupid for using it, not that it doesn't exist.
Let's pretend for a moment -- just a moment, mind you -- that FeceMan or...anyone, could grasp a point.

Similarly, "gay" should only mean "happy" and people are stupid for using it when talking about homosexuals.
Get over yourself. People are stupid (well, ignorant) for saying "schizophrenia" when they mean "dissociative identity disorder," not for allegedly misusing a word that has no concrete dictionary definition.

There's a clear reason why that term evolved into what it did. I know precisely why "Emo" is used as it is today, and it's nothing to do with evolution of language.
What does that have to do with anything? Words don't ever change meaning. Sick still means sick, gay still literally means happy. The applications of the word change for reasons explainable, as for sick, maybe it evolved, maybe it suffered the same language creationist fate as the word "Emo".
The fact of the matter is, words either evolve naturally for reasons you can figure out, or they are just attached to things because someone else did. This is the case with "Emo".
Whether or not you can accept that is not up to me, use it however you want, but you're using the wrong term, at least accept that you're using the wrong term. The very fact that you don't even care is one of the reasons I don't believe you know enough about the term we're discussing, to even have a discussion about it.
It doesn't matter if gay naturally evolved and sick didn't, we're discussing the word "Emo", which didn't.
ac, no offense intended, but if you really are that sensitive to such a superficial title based on nothing more than fad and music, then you deserve to be routinely pissed off about it until you come to the realisation than it just doesnt matter...and people who follow a scene to that degree, to be pissed off by a mislabel, are quite silly
