Ware. Baited opponent into giving me a shot at bishop kamikaze, making a shambles of his castle. Fianchettoed queen (ie put her on one of the long diagonals of the board) allowing me to pin a knight that had forked that same queen along with one of my rooks. Foolishly gave away a shot at a free piece ...

... but it didn't matter, ultimately.

King had been left too vulnerable and my opponent's pieces too underdeveloped to stop a sure checkmate. He resigned before the final move.

Book with a story about Cheryl Haworth that has just about the worst title I could ever imagine. I haven't read the book, but, as I text this, Cheryl's story can be read by browsing:

https://books.google.com/books?id=x8W-xdKVaTEC&pg=PA82&lpg=PA82&dq=%22strongest+girl+I've+ever%22&source=bl&ots=uD0sNlM0NM&sig=ACfU3U1AlDgTIqDJKIidERP1gl8d0ksB6g&hl=en&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjFgdTi3ZXkAhVJLKwKHaw9CFI4ChDoATADegQIARAB#v=onepage&q=%22strongest%20girl%20I've%20ever%22&f=false

.

So I learned overlong links/URLs/combination link-URLs can reformat the page in unwanted ways. Good to know for the future, I guess.

Back to topic.

... but I think my opponent gave in due to time, inexperience, or sheer appreciation for surprising him with good moves. I was doing well by the end, but not enough to guarantee victory.

Annoying thing about the URL/hyperlink, if that was indeed the culprit, is that it appeared normal when it was being posted.

Below, a complex, and perhaps losing position for me. Won only on time. not through full merit. I imagine I would have suffered before the matter was through.

I discovered that it IS possible to knight/king/bishop mate in the wrong corner.
It can't be forced, but it can be done.

Nearly astonishing to see the level of hatred some in the media seem to have for the President. The commentary on what Xi could do to WEAKEN America is amazing.
