Superman is vastly faster than Bill. Let's not pretend he's not. He will most certainly hit Bill far more times than Bill hits him (if at all). Also having basic knowledge of Bill, Superman has the option to knock the hammer away and spite stomp him.

Correct. That's why it's important to differentiate personality from what a character has the ability to do. Now if Superman purposely chooses to get hit when he can easily avoid getting hit then that's his personality.
