Obi-Wan said "here's Anakin's son."
The Lars say "Where's Anakin?"
Obi-Wan says "he was just killed at the end of the war like all the other Jedi."
Uncle Owen says "he shouldn't have gone off with you Jedi on your damned Crusade--he should have stayed here with us for some reason. He was too hot-headed for his own good. I sure hope his son doesn't take after him."
Boom, just apologized/rationalized (apolotionized?) the prequels. Like a true fan.

But then, when they meet OB1 they must have thought: who are you, strange person dropping of a baby saying it's Anakin's kid? wtf.
As far as Owen and Beru knew Anakin did silly stuff all on his own: he went after the Tuskens himself and then left with the pretty dame, stealing their protocol droid.
Exactly, he was an idiot. Makes good sense for Owen to worry that Luke "has too much of his father in him."
I figure in the ten years between TPM and AoTC, Shmi probably told her stepson all about that embarrassing birthmark Anakin has on his ass. Naturally, when Obi-Wan casually referenced the same birthmark apropos nothing, Owen was instantly convinced.
Plus Beru was barren and she always wanted a baby. And nobody's gonna adopt a Tusken baby from the local orphanage. Racists.

That's why he wanted Luke close with his new droids, he thought he would steal them again. And he finally had 3PO back. And indeed he was right, because, 'it rhymes', Luke takes 3PO with him away from Tatooine.
Kenobi could've told them that Padmé and Anakin were both killed in the war. If that's the case, they probably assumed Anakin died fighting and Padmé was either killed as collateral or a target for CIS or whatever.
I honestly doubt Kenobi told them Anakin became Darth Vader. I think people in Tatooine just generally dislike the Jedi tbh.
Wouldn't you? Stuck up pricks didn't even bother to come in and free the slaves.
