Tilda Swinton (Adaptation.) has come aboard The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe as the White Witch, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

This was confirmed by the director Andrew Adamson. Previously Nicole Kidman was rumored to be in discussions for the role as recently as last month, but those reports turned out to be false. Budgeted at more than $100 million, according to sources, the film is scheduled to begin shooting in the summer in Adamson's native New Zealand.

The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe is the first installment of the planned "Chronicles of Narnia" franchise, based on the series of classic children's fantasy books by C.S. Lewis
