Matthew Broderick Takes On John Gotti Crew

Matthew Broderick Matthew Broderick is in negotiations to star in "Providence" for Disney and scribe Jeff Nathanson, who will make his directorial debut with the pic, reports Variety.

Broderick, who most recently wrapped production on "The Music Man," which airs on ABC in February, will play a movie director and writer who find a financier for his project, only to discover the producer is an undercover FBI agent working on a sting operation involving the mob.

Pic was originally inspired by the true story of a sting operation in Providence, R.I., focusing on two mobsters working for the late Mafioso John Gotti.

Pic, which now has a greenlight and is expected to begin production early next year.
