Jonathan Mostow is to direct the remake of the 1966 John Frankenheimer film
Seconds for Paramount, says Variety. The project has had many stop and starts over several years.
Mostow is said to have become interested in the project after reading the 1964 David Ely novel, on which the original movie was based. Mostow is reported to have recently pitched a new take that is closer to the book than the first movie was. The film, however, is expected to be retitled.
The original film starred John Randolph as an older man who gets a new lease on life with a new face and identity. Even though he's reconstituted in the handsome visage of Rock Hudson, the change brings its own problems.
